How is he a pussy for not saying something when he know she will not hear ? God some ppl
"He was supposed to pull out her earplugs and yell it at her right then and there while her eardrums burst from the sound of the fireworks exploding."
I genuinely don't understand how some people think. I guess they're just desperate for something romantic to happen but like, this isn't the time. Also they're kids and he JUST realized his feelings aren't all platonic. Knowing the character he probably has never had feelings like that and needs at least a day to process that. Jumping into a confession would be insane.

ok but what if he wrote the characters on her hand, that'd be cute. i'm not saying that's what should have happened, i'm just saying it would have been cute. i love that confession style but it's not energetic enough so it's not very common in stories. i saw it once in a series with a deaf lead, but i don't remember the name of it. anywayyyys...

One of those days any of "monster girl" series will explain why they weren't hunted down, if not for their differences then for the simple fact that having an absurdly strong "human-like" species is a danger to our survival.

Page 4-6. Girl set him up to get a look and was disappointed he didn't get a good one. Are these the signals I was told about that girls give? Does she like him?
My interpretation is that she was not disappointed, but embarassed because he changed the way he acted with her sudenly.
Like, she was pretty chill when he was embarassed, but when he actually got serious about helping her dress (and, because of that, he started to actually look AT her), she became embarassed.

She seems to get embarassed quickly when Yutaka is more uprfront with her (like when he wanted to see the video of her dancing during the sport festival, or when he had no hesitation to touch her hand or getting close when he was sick).

Or... I'm just wrong and I didn't get it either. :pepehmm:

you are also missing how having an absurdly strong human like species is beneficial to our suvival. because it depends on what side they are on. in this universe humanity decided to welcome their integration into our midst thus making them a boon to both their and our survival. not everything has to be a hostile version

Could just be me but I feel like Tsumiki was trying to get some time with just Yutaka. She was unfazed when they looked at the time, but after seeing Yutaka stress about wanting Tsumiki to see the fireworks with her friends she jumps in and saves the day.

You might as well ask, "What happened to the other human species?" or "Why haven't we hunted down the other great apes?" in our own world. Our forebears lived with and sometimes against Denisovans and Neanderthals (as evidenced with the DNA of both mixing into our modern genomes), and while the physical anatomy of Denisovans is unclear, Neanderthals were definitely physically stronger and more resilient than the average sapiens sapiens.

While the great apes are much more distant cousins, chimps (vanilla and bonobos), orangutans, and gorillas are all absurdly strong when compared to humans.

In both cases, if I had to hypothesize a guess...isolation. Modern humans spread out better and survived whatever hard times our more isolated cousins couldn't in the last fifty-odd-thousand years, while the same isolation sheltered the great apes from the fearful human societies of the last five hundred-or-so years.

Were "genjin" real, they likely survived to the present day by being intentionally isolated and keeping a low profile. Individual demihumans might be adopted by or trade with human communities, but genjin villages would be like Ogami's...hard to get to and off the beaten path, in mountains, deserts, rain forests, and the like so that they largely stayed a "rumor", like the chimpanzee or gorilla until the mid 1800's. And paleontologists would have a field day, because for every species or subspecies of genjin that made it to the Reiwa, there might be five or six that didn't, because of said isolation and small populations.

So, will he join her pack, or does the female werewolf join the male's pack?
While we don't have werewoofers to compare with, we do have grey wolves, and the answer is...neither. Wolf packs are basically extended nuclear families (not too dissimilar from human ones) formed around a mom and a dad plus the kids plus the "unmarried" aunt/uncle/etc., so when two unrelated adults pair-bond and become mates, they tend to move out of their packs and start their own pack, in much the same way a newly married couple might move to their own place to start a family.

And like humans, wolves tend to be monogamous. :salute:

This one actually kind of does if you add it to her one-shot (Kimi to Nara Hadashi). They went into hiding as Japanese warfare tech / tactics improved. This is why you see the werewolves still living in sealed up caves, most of them afraid to go out. They used to eat people (hundreds of years ago), but switched to eating other things so as not to alert the humans who now had armor and swords and spears. And those are hard habits to break.

Kimi to Nara kind of implies that some genjin have actually been living in human society recently, just hiding their horns/ears with hats/hair, and tying up their tails, etc. Not sure how practical that would really be (it only takes one or two incidents of being found out), but Morishita-sensei's not really going for super hardcore realism either. So the combination of outright hiding and hiding in plain sight makes it 'explained' in this case.

Totally unsupported by the manga but I think would be neat: The boom in friendly monster people manga was actually done on purpose by genjin to prep the way for when they could reveal themselves. Tezuka wasn't a genjin, but he knew and was an ally.

Your interpretation is totally plausible! One thing I love about this manga is that, like Frieren, it very often does not tell you something, it just gives you some info (often not obviously) then lets you decide on your own. Unlike most manga which tell you something, then pound it into the ground, then beat that with a horse, then continue to whip the dead horse to make sure you got it.

LIke obviously, last page he realizes he Likes likes her, but it never says that.

So we don't know exactly why she was wagging her tail in the last panel (at least three plausible reasons) and we don't know exactly why she suddenly blushed while he was dressing her (again, at least three plausible reasons). I did notice she first reacted when he wrapped his arms around her to tug the waist, and it was pretty obvious he was blushing HARD at that time, she probably noticed that too... and then what you said. I think you're right about her liking when he gets assertive in a good way.

I mean we either breed or killed other human species, depending on which historian you ask (but i believe that most newer theories lean more into breeding) while great apes aren't really that much of a threat due to their intelligence not being on par with us.

ive reread this series so many times, and i still cant tell if shes liked yutaka that way from the start, or if the feelings have just started to bud for her too
I'd say the latter, when he got sick. It's the first time we ever see her react to close proximity and physically touching him with total embrassment. Since then she's definitely been treating contact with him differently than the others, like the brushing incident.

before that too, she blushed when he returned the werewolf greeting and when he lead her around amusement park. the little moments add up in retrospect haha
