Correct. If a fire extinguisher goes off as soon as you remove the pin, that does suggest it is defective in some manner.

So if anything, it's good that Komaki discovered this serious flaw during her inspection.

Remember folks, fire extinguishers need to be inspected monthly, maintained annually and tested every few years.
