It was quite painful to see how that other girl tried to focus on some humane reasons (it's Hyojeong's last project, she has other qualities that could help, there are other paths in the idol industry, who knows if some weird development makes her necessary), whereas the more powerful men at the table were cynical, pragmatic, and planning to pit candidates against each other. A cold-blooded industry.
That bit really stuck out to me too. I keep thinking back to her feedback session with Hyojeong after the first evaluation, where she just lies to Hyojeong about her evaluation results. I do believe that she was doing that out of kindness, but in that situation it's actually more cruel to dangle false hope in front of her when she knows everyone else has already written her off. Even she doesn't seem to actually believe in Hyojeong's potential, her words in this chapter sound more like they come out of a sense of sympathy.

The producer's attitude is also really interesting to me. He says that it would be better to just cut someone if they have no shot, but he drops that line of thinking as soon as the others explain their reasoning for keeping her around - it's like his decision-making is driven by a very cutthroat pragmatism, but if he can't find any utility in something, he'll just think from the position of a decent human being. Though even then, it's unclear if his initial argument was actually out of consideration for Hyojeong's situation - his reasoning could also just be purely pragmatic, something like "these trainees are an active investment, and keeping her around is a waste of resources that could be spent on everyone else".

Got a feeling Yoil is never gonna debut and only will be used as fertilizer for other girls' growth.

Are they cultivating Han Yoil into a super idol or something?
Its already weird that the company wanted Sanghyun as Yoil.

Like there's no way they could know his past life exactly but on the words of a Shaman did anyway.

The CEO came to see Sanghyun in person and treated him like family.

Yoil actually might be getting a form of nepotism, but it's related to Sanghyun not Yoil. I went back to look at some panels and it looks like Yuyeon is wearing a blazer when talking to Granny Kim. Makes me think she might've been a student when Sanghyun met her but changed her appearance.
