Unless there is something else going on, like

Didn't that already happen? Pretty sure Alex is the mystery one who gave him a level while he was in dungeon.

As many are saying, I just do not buy that Alex is a man. Even the name, its one of the very easy to swap to a female version names, Alexis. Probably used magic to fake being a man in the bath, but all the knights seem to be in the know. Telling the MC to call him grandpa, he absolutely knows and realized that she likes the MC.

Yeah, Alex definitely looks like a boyish girl, but usually in that case the trope is that he tries to conceal his real gender and so far it's not happening. Can't exclude he won't be gender bent later but it might just be a tease from the author.
