He tried asking, and then simply defended himself knocking him out without dealing much damage (or dealt no damage at all). Even after knocking him out, he didn't "enslave" him. Don't you see the difference in those two approaches? The other tamers don't care about other party's will at all.

So, it brainwashes them into accepting the contract. If the MC cared about the monster's will, he wouldn't use a substance that alter it. He's like some creep spiking the drink of a girl that rejected his advances.

The second he give addictive drug to his partner that make it "push asside its instinct", it's immoral. Even if he's giving it the snack after they are already contracted. The beast chips as it is described is a dangerous item that should absolutely not be used unless for special case like placation, morphine, counter measure to brainwash/status effect....
