PHONE: "beep"
Msg from Panji: "Remember to come to the library during lunch. I want to tell you my true intentions."
Msg from Panji: "If you don't, I'll do something really bad to you."
[ Imagined direction of the text conversation:
Jouro: to Panji: "Did you say, 'Bad'?"
Panji: to Jouro: "That's correct."
Jouro: to Panji: "I respectfully decline your offer. If this threat is the fruit of your love, I will take my chances and avoid you at all costs."
Phone: "Contact: Panji. Blocked."
Jouro (to himself): "With friends like her, who needs enemies? I would trust a tiger for a lunch partner more than her." ]
Had Jouro not shown up for lunch in the Library:
Panji's Opiton 1. Panji allows her planned confrontation with Ooga to slide. Result: by dropping the topic and allowing the disaster that befell Jouro to fester, Jouro's school situation reaches "intolerable", pushing Jouro to transfer out. However, judging by what happens later, this may not be an actual option to Panji (unless she had an even more brilliant plan to save Jouro's reputation when things got worse). Since Cosmos and Himawari are already hiding in the Library to listen in on the up-coming confrontation between Panji and Ooga, they might be a bit miffed if nothing actually goes down.
Panji's Option 2. Panji confronts Ooga. Cosmos and Himawari would have the truth exposed. For their part, Jouro would be cleared, but I fail to see how this would live up to Panji's threat that Jouro's absence would result in something "bad."
It appears Jouro's curiosity overrides his natural aversion for even more disaster. There is nothing in Jouro's and Panji's shared relationship at this point that Jouro can fall back on as solid proof that all will go well. I've seen the Anime, and I know where this is going. However, this was the moment in the Anime where I said to an animated Jouro NOT to go to the Library.
Overall, it's a well-written manga/anime. Panji is the most surprising of all. I do enjoy the fact that she's doing her best to make scumbag Jouro into a real man.
