Realistically speaking, a real, modern, governmental organization would conduct the same tests, however, they would also take into account the mental health of the subject, not just because it's better to have the person calm, but also because it would provide more accurate measurements for most tests, as well as give them enough information regarding the person itself. In the end, most entertainment mediums, such as this one (manga), will ignore certain aspects of what would actually happen, in order to expand the range of options in terms of story, even if it comes at the cost of veracity (this happened most obviously in Terminator, as well as Minority Report, and even in titles that take the past into account, like most nobles in many manga being a bunch of douchebags). It's a soft Deus Ex Machina to help authors shape their stories without having to think too much.

"Mental health examination?" Pffft in the country of "even elementary school kids kill themselves because of our shitty way of viewing schooling and your fucked for life if you miss one step" japan. That is not going to happen, at all, they do not care. Heck one could even make the case that she doesn't have human rights because she is not from earth and even if she is humanoid she is not human due to her magic. And since there is no legislation in either side they can pretty much do that. I think this will get worst before it gets better and it might as well need something drastic to happen so that she and the idiot get a semblance of their normal lives.

Let me guess, you're referring to the latest "OMG JAPAN'S KIDS DYING FROM SUICIDE MOST OFTEN" crap?

The only reason suicide is the most common reason for kids dying in Japan is elimination and reduction of other causes. Kids die less in accidents, from diseases, cancer... so by method of elimination, the most common reason is taking their own life. Which sounds bad when you write it as "suicide primary reason for death" and not "all other reasons for death decreased".

Well. If you don't there is no way to get the legal documents to be a citizens among other things. (Being an illegal immigrant sucks) Aside from maybe forgery though I have no idea how that would work.
Don't think honestly asking to be a citizen would work though. Pretty sure they would have some kind of background check for that.

That being said, I don't remember how they found out she was an alien in the first place.

@Nep they actually recorded a video of her using fire out of thin air and sent it to the government themselves, while saying she came from another world... it happened some chapters ago...
Therefore why im kinda "mad" at the decision making of these people... there would have been other "safer" ways to investigate her health and to acquire some documents...
