As for the people defending the author saying its a realistic situation: Life is boring a lot of the time. If you write a boring story where nothing happens, you might be realistic but you're still writing a terrible story. There's more to a good narrative than realism.
When people point out that it's a realistic circumstance, it's not necessarily to defend it as good writing, but as believable writing-- and specifically against claims of it being impossible, or trivially solvable.

I don't think anybody that's commented so far is under the delusion that this story is an exercise in wish fulfillment from an author who specializes in it. But not every criticism that one can make of a work is worth making, and not acknowledging that puts one at risk of either beating a dead horse or-- worse-- proffering criticisms that are themselves poorly made. That becomes especially true when dealing with stories as straightforward and simple as this.

The worst part is that its only a mystery in-universe. The readers are under no illusions as to who is behind this, and we're stuck watching the cast languidly try to discover what we already know; the ex is behind it. It's like watching a toddler solving 2+2. The end result isn't going to surprise anyone when they discover its 4. It's just boring and it makes it feel even slower than it is.
That wouldn't necessarily make it bad. Sometimes a mystery isn't for the sake of engaging the reader directly, but rather for the sake of eliciting engaging reactions from the characters. Dramatic irony is a good example of this, but even outside that, it can't be helped if the reader guesses lucky, is genre savvy, or genuinely has good deductive skills and happens to know what the intended twist is ahead of its reveal.

This is putting aside that it's revealed in this chapter that the allegedly bullied person herself produced the letters, and so the manner in which the ex is involved is legitimately unclear given that we have yet to see any interactions between the two and have no idea what these two characters have in terms of interrelated stakes.

But your reaction, I reckon, reveals something important: the problem isn't that the answer is obvious (because it isn't-- "the ex is behind it" doesn't disambiguate much, in the grand scheme).

It's that you don't care about the mystery in the first place. Not all that much. And I'm not at all faulting you for that-- I actually couldn't have cared less about the sports festival arc, myself. But the premises in this manga so far has been more or less functional.

The "problem" is that they've arguably only ever been "functional", and are often boring for reasons that aren't that clear cut but have much to do with presentation and the fact that the protagonist lacks conflict in any context (even his interactions with his ex are flaccid since the whole point is that she was unambiguously the albatross around his neck).

Actual shite drama, I thought this manga was going to be decent but with how things going it's going under quick.

Reason why it sucks :
#1 : Stupid conflict, it's a false charge in which the character has no power over nor do they exert power everybody got quiet and nobody is doing anything.

#2 : No Reaction, Literally not much reaction from MC when his gf got dragged by the teacher and the whole class doesn't provide anything nor do they do anything.

#3 : Frustating/Annoying, stupid misunderstand conflict like this is frustating bc if idk the guy idk just talk to the teacher in the first place it would not be like this, like really if the MC said this "Why did [insert name] point to my gf as the bully?" thing would've been solved

So since this has been broadly appealing but with a few problems, like the teacher's inexplicable response to the charge of bullying, I set out to find and read the original. And did.

It was first published as a 30 chapter web novel, then adapted into a one volume light novel. I don't think the LN has been translated - at least I couldn't find it - but the WN has been, so I read that.

And what follows is going to be very mildly spoileriffic, but since it "spoils" broad story beats that are obviously predictable in a story like this, and addresses some broad misconceptions that are interfering with some readers' enjoyment, I'm just going to forge ahead.

Specifically, the teacher's actions are given more context in the WN (though not a lot more and it remains awkward storytelling). Basically, she's fresh out of school, something of a crusader and pretty much an idiot.

And notably, the attitude later in the story is that she fucked up and the class knows it. And she knows it.

And there's a detail that's significant that IMO didn't get enough emphasis either in the original or in this adaptation. I've seen that people are saying that it's dumb to think that someone would believe that the quiet girl would bully the "extroverted" girl, but that's not quite it. It's more accurately that the pretty bookish girl would bully the gross otaku. It's still not fully credible (which is part of how and why the teacher's an idiot), but it is at least marginally plausible.

The overall theme that comes out of all of this is the tendency among people to rush to judgment with insufficient grounds, and that's revisited more than once in the story - this is just the first example of it. And yes - it's a bit awkwardly contrived, but that's just the way it goes.

Broadly, I want to make the point that, having read the WN, I intend to keep reading this adaptation. I enjoyed it all in all. It's not world class storytelling, but if you just slow down and cut the author a bit of slack, it's worth it.

Or, of course, if you're so inclined, you can rush to a negative judgment with insufficient evidence.

Like the teacher did.

I mean, it's pretty obvious the teacher is just trying to "solve" this by forcing someone to take the blame just so she can say she handled the issue. Actually investigating what's going on would take effort, after all. It's far easier to just pressure a shy person into giving a confession.
I had something like that happened to me. Falsely accused but I found proof it wasn't true and teacher had to apologise

Have you people ever heard the news? This seems pretty in line with many cases of bullying at school. Yes, the teacher is handling this terribly and seems to want to take the easy way out so she and the school can say "we handled the bullying".

The classmates are not dumb enough to think that the quiet, shy girl is bullying the apparently outspoken extrovert and the main guys are pointing out how the teacher is going about this in the worst way (bullying herself).
In all fairness, the teacher is handling it the way a new teacher who's hyped up to "stop the bullying" would act.

I have had teachers this bad and stupid, and honestly it just makes this arc all the more frustrating. Like, I've had outright abusive teachers who directly pick on students they don't like and they just get away with it.

Not only are the actions of the teacher dumb, like expecting someone to oust themselves in public rather than in private...twice
But the twist and the pace of this arc are frustratingly obvious to us
We just saw the "bullied' girl trash talk one of her classmates and then we saw MC's ex plotting her revenge with her phone out...Its almost as if the "bullied" girl is just getting blackmailed to say these things....but we gotta wait months for this dramatic reveal

Nah it's the author making things up to force an arc. The teacher being new doesn't excuse this braindeadness, I won't believe ever, even if I have seen one, that this type of person exist in real life teaching students. Most mishandled bullying case would be the other way around, indirectly harrassing the bullied student because they don't want the matter to grow big, it's a heavy accusation after all.

Either that teacher must have been paid with only a single cheese burger/day as her salary or the author got CDPR special crunch.

I'm glad the characters are outright saying the teach is a bully here, I'm glad someone actually has a brain.
I do hope the teacher gets fired or something, I'll be disappointed if it's just forgiven.

I wanted to give that teacher the benefit of the doubt last time, but the way they dropped the ball on this is really infuriating. At this point I feel like I'm not just gonna be satisfied with clearing Yukishiro's name and finding the culprit, this teacher also has to answer for this absolutely terrible handling of the case.

I wish I could blame the contrived writing, but this frustrating situation, no matter how stupid it may seem, is possible in real life. There are schools and teachers this bad.
