Haven't read the LN, but I'm 80% sure they'll get back together after she goes through some kind of redemption arc. I don't see the point in her genuinely having feelings for him if they're not gonna get back together. But then again, romance stories have begun to move away from the standard format lately, so I might be wrong about the ending.

They're not getting back together

You'd think this would be more about MC dealing with the trauma of getting out of a years long abusive relationship, at least in the beginning, but it looks like they skipped that and are going to focus more on his ex's attempts at ruining his new life. The former would be more interesting tbh

I'm surprised the Kirigaya guy still did not get that he is being used.
Sure, he stole someone else's girl just to throw her aside when she gave him the time of day, but still.
...unless he is in on it? But nah, his behavior in this chapter makes him seem too proud to do so.

Anyway, can't wait until someone else, besides "clearly just as bad" here, sees how she acts and actually accuses her of being a stalker that can't accept the breakup or something.

Yeah, it's this weird thing of authors not understanding that talent/potential is not a +20 stat-boost, but rather an *1.5 EXP-multiplier + higher-level cap.
...best definition I ever saw.

Yeah. I mean it seems so since the things he seems to be good at are things he never tried because she basically bullied him into not doing because it would draw attention to him, but it is one thing to go "oh look, I do have some talent if I try despite what my abuser made me think" and another to jump striaght to "foot race competition arc!"
...I don't think he even thought he has a talent, he is just going through the motions.

Yeah this all seems a roundabout way to inflict even more revenge (on behalf of the reader, not the MC) on Hanabi. Hopes this moves along for some meatier emotional exploration.

Bloody hell this is "less evil"?? Now I'm wondering what the hell did she do in the LN.
It's pretty much the same, only in visual media. Not more, not less evil.
The only thing that gets toned down is probably internal monologue because people don't want to read novel's wall of text in comic. But even in the novel it's not the kind that make you nauseating from the size.

Honestly the premise of the MC breaking away from the control freak ex was great, but him suddenly being perfect in every single way is a little grating. I'm almost wondering if this story would work better as a 4koma or something.
Hard agree, it very quickly went from making fun of rom com tropes into being just more wish fulfillment self insert trash

I can see what the author is going for: MC is attractive so Hanabi had him hide his face, he's fast so Hanabi told him to run slow, etc. Maybe we're supposed to be surprised by his talent because he is too. Idk, just feels like too much too soon

Bro if you think it's even remotely possible for someone to get back together with an abuser like that you got a whole thing coming
Unfortunately, it is. But it rarely ends well when it happens.

Yeah, it is clearly that she tried to guilt him to hide his good features and talents, either to make herself feel better or to not draw attention from other girls.

The issue is that, even if he used to be a good runner, this is too much.
As someone said here, talent is an experience bonus and a higher level cap, not a flat bonus from 0.
In other words, him having talent makes him learn faster and be able to reach upper limits. It should not make him a running machine the first time he runs unrestrained for years.
And I don't doubt we will see this happening with other talents in the future.

Also not to forget it wasn't that long ago he was hospitalised from the rain incident so theres no way he'd be back to 100% of what he was. But yeah the running thing much like the 1/10 looks to 10/10 looks is indicitive of the LN writing and sadly many more cases will be like that going forward, least it'll be short I suppose.

The way the manga portrays Hanabi makes me got a mixed feeling. Like, sure, she is mean, but to me, there is a big ‘tsun’ tag on her forehead. It makes me view her more like an annoying brat, which I wouldn’t much attention to her words. (Some said she was harsher in novel. If that’s so, then it makes more sense)

However, that was my opinion as a reader. In reality, getting ranted on freaking everything takes toll on mental health a lot, even if you try to ignore them. It makes you unconsciously berating yourself and feeling worthless. I’m glad MC broke free from her trap. But it would be story wiser if there is some gradual progression of his character development. It’s quite shallow to see he could smiles easily after all he experienced.

Yeah because we totally don't already have manga where the mc gets together with his bully.

Man the ex still continues to act like she does even though she wants him back, like surely you'd think she'd realise thats why he left?

This felt a little wheel spinny this chapter though not much was really acomplished.

I basically know how this series goes so I'll not spoil but you'll still see me comment as the manga continues (Specially as it might not follow the LN)
Please could you spoil with whom does Mc get together and what happens to ex
