That last panel looks ominous. Why is Ai mother suddenly showed up in the panel watching over them :worry:

Ending feels ominous. Why is grandma watching Aqua leave like that? I hope she's not planning on sticking to Aqua and Ruby and becoming a money sucking leech.

It's worded a bit weirdly, not entirely sure the guy was interested in 8-year old Ai or later when she became older, but since she was a teen mom and had left her home before that, that isn't really better.
And yh, grandma standing in the backround like that seems to say that there is indeed more to her, despite what the dialogue says.

"I want to be born as a normal girl too"
What is she even talking about, she was born and raised like any other normal girl, her parents are great and supportive too, stop acting like a chuuni just because you're in love with a super chuuni boy like Aqua.

I don't think it's meant to be ominous. I think it's meant to just show them leaving her behind both literally and figuratively. I'm just thinking of all the scenes in various media where characters walk away and someone watching their back, that sort of scene carries an air of finality to it.

Besides, we're in the final stretch and focused on the big reveal of their dad. Having grandma suddenly enter the stage as a minor villain now would disrupt the pacing and atmosphere of the arc.

It's about her mental, not her enviroment. She also has a broken mind just like Aqua

My take on their grandmother: I don't think she's despicable so much as pathetic. And I think she's aware that she's pathetic, for being jealous of her young daughter for being attractive and effectively choosing a man who was a certifiable creep over her.

Her line to Aqua about "I knew I'd end up hurting her so I had no choice to stay away" doesn't feel like an excuse or the truth, it feels like she's trying to convince herself that Ai was better off without her. And based on her tears, I think she knows it's just a bunch of hot air and she was a bad mom.

She just strikes me as a woman who loathes herself. Just a sad, pathetic human being who is aware of that, but still can't bring herself to change into a better person.

Normal girls don't help their boyfriends with murder.
Normal girls don't consider murdering villains for the sake of their boyfriends.
Normal girls don't have 200 IQ.
Normal girls aren't hyper-talented polymaths.

Aqua & Akari are more detective than actor...

A movie that is 90% real? Even some documentaries can't get that real...
It's a documentary of a someone from the POV of her child, who as co-write the story.

In a sense, it is true it's more-or-less real.

Well, like Akane said, nothing more to see.

Aqua got what he need from this place.
Ai's life sucks, but not like she's the most suffering person in the world.

I’m late to the party but just felt the need to comment since Akane is best girl…

…she’ll now become his self-admitted stalker until he drops his plan I guess, that’s certainly a plan.

It's because of the video Ai left him. She literally gave him tons of information. Aqua just had to follow the leads.
