I need a translator note cause soda accidental confession is new to me
It's not really an "accidental confession," just a momentary misunderstanding.

Basically, just keep in mind that Japanese doesn't use as many pronouns and articles and is more context dependant than English. In most cases like this (because something like this happens in just about every romance manga at some point), what's happening is that the person is just saying the word "suki" (好き), meaning to like or love something, and then following it up with the subject of what they love. But, when you just say suki alone, with no other context, generally it's assumed that you're directing it towards the person you're talking to. It's kinda weird and usually you'd still use it as part of a larger sentence, but the english equivalent would be that you can basically just walk up to the person you're crushing on and say "love" and they'll understand it as a confession.

It's hard to translate without using TL notes or losing the meaning, because what's basically happening is:
"I love..." (you)
"...this soda candy" (providing a subject removes the implied 'you')

She's blushing because she's getting bashful about the very idea that she was just confessed to, which is what it sounded like at first, but she knows that's not actually what he meant.

Of course, there's plenty of other manga where it does become a full-blown accidental confession where one person thinks they're in a relationship while the alleged confessor has no clue they said it.
Usually it's some contrived shit like they're trying to say "I love the weather today" but a big gust of wind picked up and drowned out the rest of what they were saying, or they're lying in bed sick and barely lucid they only say "suki da!!!" out loud, but in their illness-imposed hallucination that was part of a longer statement in which they were saying "I love how fast this rocket car goes vroom vroom wheeeee!!!!!!." And of course the person who came to visit only heard the part that, with no other context, can be taken to mean "I love (you)."

99.9% of the time, when a weird reaction or misunderstanding happens in translated manga because of the word "love" but the way it unfolds seems kinda weird in English, it's some variation of this trope.

Honestly I really love that this manga didn't beat around the bush too much. There's progress in some form basically every chapter, it's refreshing.
Don't get me wrong, that doesn't remove my enthusiasm for slow burn romance, but this is a nice change of pace.

Agreed.
I don't mind slow burn, but then it should be something like Horimiya slow burn, where progress is gradual but measurable and the start of the relationship is only the end of the first arc rather than the end of the whole damn thing. I'm tired of reading 200 chapters of romance where nothing happens only for the confession to be the very last chapter; all the best parts of the romance come after the relationship is actually established.

it's good to see MC stil struggling actually. Shit like this takes a whole lot of time to heal
I think that must be the only MC who actually has a real reason for mistrust and doubt. Every time he starts to believe in someone, the other girls shatter his trust.
His fears proven to be still true in this chapter is storytelling at its best, really.

At least he recognizes that he's the one that's being neurotic (when it comes to Hojou-san; his neuroses seem justified with all the other girls) and feels guilty about acting like he did. Just hope the manga actually progresses and doesn't yo-yo between shields up and shields down. This chapter gives me hope though; he opened up again immediately.

I kinda liked Shield Hero for this reason too, Naofumi already had trust issues and was given a lot of good reasons to double down on them. It's not exactly a shining star amongst the already low bar of isekai, but I liked that it actually gave a believable justifcation for the whole "my closest female companion is a slave" thing. Maybe not a good justification, but definitely a believable one. Dude's ability to trust people was so shot that he felt there was nobody he could trust if they weren't a slave, and after getting to know him Rafu opted in to staying a slave to help soothe his mind, to show him that he could trust her and to show that she trusted him enough to not abuse it.
The whole willing slave thing is still a pretty fucked up situation, but it's an understandable fucked up situation that resulted from a broken guy with a fucked up mentality.

Shame that every other isekai to come after has to have the obligatory girl who loves protag for no good reason unconditionally so much to the point that she literally begs to be his slave forever and cries if he tries to free her so they can just be normal friends/lovers/spouses/whatever.

That was a big yapping tangent but basically yeah I'm also happy to see a guy who actually has a very good reason to be paranoid and it makes the romance interesting instead of making it feel like he's just being dense.
I really like how his relationship with his brother seems pretty normal too, he's not needlesly antagonistic, just a chill older brother who happens to be extremely handsome and popular with every female in a 50 mile radius.

I don't want to rude but her blushing is like she got caught guilty or something (well it really caught her guard off) i know you know what i mean

Houjou W

Thank you for the TL
She got caught being guilty of... liking tohno?

Well she admitted to giving him specifically soda candy so i guess she is indeed guilty of catering to his likes

TL here, not sure when or why the TS was changed, I was busy with a different project to not QC, but this was the raw TL I made, in order to avoid the nuance of having a TL note and having to shift the original JP lines too much.
Edit: it is fixed back to my TL, sorry for any weird confusion

Dang, that's pretty much the smoothest possible translation you could hope for too. I assume they changed it because it seems a little unnatural in english, but it's really the only way it makes sense...
