My heart aches reading this chapter. It's usually sweet and wholesome... but this trauma... because sometimes time doesn't heal.
He is mostly used as a plot device so far and that's pretty much it. He is kinda of a contradicting character in itself as well. He cares so much but not to the point of noticing his little brother's literal life long problem....I wonder why the older brother didn't shut all that down long ago? We know he cares deeply for his brother and would probably do anything for him.
houjou could always ask what's wrong, but that seems too unrealistic even for a wish fulfillment manga like thisi hope the mc won't need hinagi/someone else to recover from his trauma, but purely because houjou alone
I know you want to be supportive, but being manipulated for years made me have the same personality as Tohno.Tohno
Man tf up
So you want his brother to betray his trust when Tohno has been protecting his brother’s contact info for years? Also, seeing his brother and Houjou together, or finding out that they talked about him behind his back, would confirm every fear Tohno has.I hope Houjou gets Tohno's contact details by asking Rei to send her the details. Rei saw her with him during the sports festival and probably has some idea of what his brother's gone through, so I think he'd be game to hook her up. It would be two birds with one stone - she gets Tohno's contact details, and she also demonstrates that she isn't interested in Rei by using him as the middle man. I feel like that would be too perfect of a conclusion, though.
Ah yes, the best solution for trauma and depression: telling someone "get over it".Of course. It's life. You get over it.
Dude's potentially ruining an opportunity because of his fear. It's weak.
I say potentially, because we all know it's going to turn around in the next chapter or two - this character has been written such that he recognizes his faults and adapts, contrary to most MMC's in these sorts of manga, and despite the comment section handling it with kids gloves.
It's because most of the interactions this far were passive affairs, where the MC could just roll with what was happening without having to think too hard about it, and without having to confirm his fears. Just "what's up with this girl" and set it aside as a matter to deal with later. What i mean by "remembered the premise" is that if his trauma was this deep, these sort interactions/moments should have been WAY more prevalent from the get go instead of 15 chapters of standard romcom slop interactions between a loner and a class beauty who is obsessed with him for absolutely no reason. Did he just remember he was suppose to be emotionally fucked up due to the ways he was treated by EVERY SINGLE GIRL?
trauma isn't just something a person can easily get past. if you were manipulated by others all the time, you would probably start having the same reaction.Life is risk bro.
Just gonna miss out on everything because you might get burned again? Weak.
It can be spun in a way that his brother is trying to help him get past his trauma. Like if Rei thinks to himself "I know that this girl is actually interested in Tohno and not in me because I saw them at the sports festival, so I should help her get closer to him so that he realises that girls are not all bad". Even though giving away someone else's contact info is usually a pretty rude thing to do (and for that reason I don't think Houjou would ask Rei and I don't think he would give the info if she did), in this situation I think it could be a big help.So you want his brother to betray his trust when Tohno has been protecting his brother’s contact info for years? Also, seeing his brother and Houjou together, or finding out that they talked about him behind his back, would confirm every fear Tohno has.
