...I wonder why the older brother didn't shut all that down long ago? We know he cares deeply for his brother and would probably do anything for him.
He is mostly used as a plot device so far and that's pretty much it. He is kinda of a contradicting character in itself as well. He cares so much but not to the point of noticing his little brother's literal life long problem.

I hope Houjou gets Tohno's contact details by asking Rei to send her the details. Rei saw her with him during the sports festival and probably has some idea of what his brother's gone through, so I think he'd be game to hook her up. It would be two birds with one stone - she gets Tohno's contact details, and she also demonstrates that she isn't interested in Rei by using him as the middle man. I feel like that would be too perfect of a conclusion, though.

It’s easy to tell him to trust her, but he has been through that cycle of trust and betrayal literally dozens of times and she might just be more cunning than her predecessors.

At this point she could suck his dick and he’d probably still think she’s playing the long game.

I hope she'll find out about his problems soon. Dragging it would be kind of a bummer and I think there are more interesting things the author can write about.

So you want his brother to betray his trust when Tohno has been protecting his brother’s contact info for years? Also, seeing his brother and Houjou together, or finding out that they talked about him behind his back, would confirm every fear Tohno has.

Of course. It's life. You get over it.
Dude's potentially ruining an opportunity because of his fear. It's weak.
I say potentially, because we all know it's going to turn around in the next chapter or two - this character has been written such that he recognizes his faults and adapts, contrary to most MMC's in these sorts of manga, and despite the comment section handling it with kids gloves.
Ah yes, the best solution for trauma and depression: telling someone "get over it".

Your beloved childhood pet got run over by a car? Meh, just an animal, get over it. There's more of them.

Your best friend died of suicide? They were mental, get over it.

Your parent(s) passed away in a car crash? That's life, get over it.

You were tied up and assaulted for hours? You're a man, you should've enjoyed it, get over it.

The most sociopathic answer possible coming from someone who's likely never truly suffered a real issue.

Damn, that was not a "ugh here it comes yet another step toward approaching my bro" face, that was a straight up trauma triggerred face.

What i mean by "remembered the premise" is that if his trauma was this deep, these sort interactions/moments should have been WAY more prevalent from the get go instead of 15 chapters of standard romcom slop interactions between a loner and a class beauty who is obsessed with him for absolutely no reason. Did he just remember he was suppose to be emotionally fucked up due to the ways he was treated by EVERY SINGLE GIRL?
It's because most of the interactions this far were passive affairs, where the MC could just roll with what was happening without having to think too hard about it, and without having to confirm his fears. Just "what's up with this girl" and set it aside as a matter to deal with later.
Agreeing to give someone your contact information, however, is an active step that could advance things in a direction with potential consequences, which in his mind could go (and has gone) very wrong. Plus, if he agreed and it backfired, it would destroy his mental safety buffer where houjou exists in this state of maybe she's dangerous, maybe not. So it's kind of a very risky step in his mind that may not be worth taking.

I can't fault Tohno at all for his current actions. He's likely been exploited many times by girls who really wanted info on his brother, and we see that is ongoing with those other girls who were planning to do the same thing had Hinagi not interfered. At least Hinagi looks to be going in the right direction, but time will tell if her development holds up.

I know we got some glimpses into Tohno's backstory, but I wonder just how deep that goes, as that would give us a better understanding of what exactly he's had to go through over the years.

Currently, he's at a status quo where he's ok with Houjou on, but if things start moving forward with her making subtle advances, he'll be conflicted about which way to go. In this case, sharing contact info in the past had brought him nothing but trouble. Houjou may not be able to get his contact info directly, and trying to talk to his brother for that info could very well backfire if Tohno were to see the two talking, as that could send everything down the drain.

It can be spun in a way that his brother is trying to help him get past his trauma. Like if Rei thinks to himself "I know that this girl is actually interested in Tohno and not in me because I saw them at the sports festival, so I should help her get closer to him so that he realises that girls are not all bad". Even though giving away someone else's contact info is usually a pretty rude thing to do (and for that reason I don't think Houjou would ask Rei and I don't think he would give the info if she did), in this situation I think it could be a big help.

And I don't agree at all that Houjou merely interacting with Rei to ask about Tohno would confirm Tohno's fears. Context is important. He fears girls trying to use him to get closer to Rei, but Houjou using Rei to get close to Tohno is an exact reversal of that. If she's interested in Rei, why would she bother to get Tohno's contact info from Rei and then use it to talk to Tohno instead of just talking to Rei directly? That's the opposite of what he'd expect. Tohno isn't going to start suspecting Houjou of foul play if she literally just asks Rei for Tohno's details and then ignores Rei after that.
