I really liked how the MC is not dense in the sense that he's completely unaware of the FL as a romantic interest. This could've totally been one of those stories where the FL is in love with the MC from the start but the MC never even considers them as a romantic interest until 100 million chapters in.

Instead, he clearly and logically outlines how he is indeed sexually attracted to her, but he thinks that acting on that instinct will very likely make things weird between them and thus cause them to lose their friendship, which he highly values, which all seems very plausible and makes total sense. He also (through the medium of that professor character) indicates that he suspects he might only be physically and not emotionally attracted to her as a romantic interest, and would feel bad about confessing to her on those terms, which is pretty wholesome and standup of him.

Overall, this makes him come across as a genuine and caring person, which is charming. It's kind of unusual for works in this genre to put so much effort into the male MC, since they're usually just empty shells for the male readers to self-insert into, but I find that all the really high-quality ones do this (Bokuyaba and Komi-san for example).
