Code:
Personal Log of: Dr. ████

Date: ██/██/████

It's my fault. I have doomed my research team, and possibly the rest of the facility. All that's left is to keep trying. We must contain SCP-023.

Double Vision comforting the Doctor from this chapter (I think) makes me sad

@Thiron there was a better example - a chair that just moved itself under your ass if you wanted to sit down, another organization shredded it and now the chair became a pile of highly dangerous woodchips that will teleport into lungs of anyone who tries to do anything to it.

@Hollow7F after the incident, it was captured and again contained, though unknown how long after the incident, albeit in a more secure cell/intersection (all reflective surfaces, including displays, monitors, and eye-wear of any sort are not permitted within 30 meters of SCP-023's cell). Experiments of SCP-023 has been suspended indefinitely. The page and the SCP isn’t very well-written, in my opinion.

Yeah... unless you are 110% sure what you are proposing will properly deal with it... don't. All the attempts with killing 682 are examples because they just made the damn thing more resistant to various kinds of lethal attempts.

Besides... not ALL SCPs are there because they are dangerous. Some are pretty damn useful and more than capable of helping people, while others are there because they don't have a choice, like 085, 053, and 1192. The reason they are SCPs is that they are anomalous, things people wouldn't normally understand.

Hm... wonder what would happen with an SCP if they are finally understood; how they are formed, what causes them, the works. Do they just become normal things now, or are they still SCPs, but given a different denomination, like intellexerunt?

But if they removed his eyes and teeth the first time, despite it not appearing during the day, it's still relatively more harmless no? Only assuming that the only way it can use it's powers to kill through it's eyes sockets. If it had no medium to use it's ocular powers, it's much more harmless despite disappearing during the day, no?

@Boomburst

Those SCPs have their own class, "Explained", IIRC they're anomalies that has been explained by science, or so widespread that it is considered normal by the public and no longer a threat

@osojr the eyeless sockets are even more dangerous.

they finally figure out a replacement in the full entry, heat-resistant eye shaped rubber balls. they still need to replace them occasionally as they get burnt out but as long as it has them in then it's effectively neutralized, but since they need replacing it is still a danger that needs to be contained.

There's a bonus story about this SCP.

To put it simply, its power is "sealed" by the body. Eyes are the weak part of seal, so that's why it leaks. However, removing the eyes only weakens the seal further, making it more dangerous.

@OrionStarless they could use a steel mask or any material the dog can't burn tho (at least the scalpel didn't in the eyes removal incident)

@goodknife I'd say the difference was that the scalpel wasn't a permanent attachment. It is stated that while passing through walls to reach locations, he incinerates those materials as well. I don't doubt he's passed through metal substances before. Besides, considering even the rubber inserts in its eyes are subject to burning (albeit slowly) and must be replaced on occasion, it would likely be less cost effective than current containment procedures.
