A part of me believes that this is still a part of Yarla's powers. Like they weren't released and are still trapped inside of the goo. This is part of the fever dream that she induced when she grabbed the MC by the big head. Yarla had ONE job. Kill the MC. Why let him go when you have him at your mercy?
