i kinda dont get what she’s trying to say by saying that kirishima and that guy are similar? also saying that kirishima didnt care if she was dead or alive? i always got the impression that he cared for her in his own way

Her grit is so dense that you could throw it in a black hole, it would collapse it.

This girl has more courage and a better head on her shoulder than half of the people of the world combined.

AFLAC? Black flash? Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat?

I can't get over how this series keeps trying to force characters into being "not a Yakuza." They act like Yakuza, they look like Yakuza, they work with or for Yakuza, what makes them not?
I think it's because they haven't exhanged sake and an oath of loyalty. In Kirishima's case he doesn't want to be yakuza (also he's too young to legally drink and the yakuza are weirdly law-abiding, oddly enough), and in Shouma's case I recall that Konishi has indicated Renji pushed him to finish high school and go to college to keep him out of yakuza life. Not sure yet why they have the tattoos, but might just be for appearances? Hoping we find out soon.

…And the plot thickens. ThNks for the translation! Can’t wait to see what gonna happen next v
Thank you! 🥰 OMG the next drop day can't come quick enough. We're posting the first chapter of Kirishima's childhood arc after Kodansha releases presumably the final chapter of the arc. It's going to be brutal.

A few days after Yoshino arrived in Tokyo there was an accident with some punks, they tried to hit on her or some shit and they got violent, Kirishima arrived and after giving them a good "talking" scaring and scarring them for life, like the good little psycho he is, he reveals his true face to Yoshino.

He talks some smack to her saying how she is dull and uninteresting, and how she could sell herself to prostitution bla bla bla yadda yadda, so... what our girl does? She takes a two week absence from school, finds a back alley doctor, sells one of her kidneys to get money and gives it to him... in school... right in their classroom, and that is when he truly fell in love with her... can't blame him.

During her absence he didn't try to find her, he didn't even register her absence, because to him during that time... she was boring.

That is what Yoshino is talking about, the thing that she sees them as being similar, the guy that kidnapped her here could very well kill her or leave her be if he thinks she is boring, and do the same if he found her interesting.

Both he and Kirishima aren't right in their heads, I do agree that Kirishima now loves Yoshino very much, but he admitted he doesn't know how long this could keep going.

Edit... almost forgot to say... Yoshino didn't really got one of her kidneys taken, she asked her cousin (forgot her name) for help, her family owns a pharmaceutical company and hospitals, so she has contacts, but she knows too that living without a kidney is tough, so instead she made the doctor just take some of Yoshino's blood, it was a lot, even enough to cause heavy anemia (to fake recuperation from surgery), but not enough to kill her... she(the cousin) still has the blood stored, as a keepsake... yeah, our girl has problems with the people around her.

Oh, and Kirishima asked to buy the blood from her... she refused... Jesus, Yoshino is a freak magnet.

Wow, they managed to have a whole conversation revealing so little lol.
i honestly think the author has alr done a good job mentioning or implying all the plot they discussed thru smaller convos or context or obstacles. so now that theyre actually “talking it thru” it lowkey feels irrelevant

the whole dad thing def isnt new, idk how her motives or direction will change with this convo

I’m sooo excited for the next part! Kirishima is such an interesting character. I know we’ve gotten a lot of bits and pieces about his childhood, but I can’t wait to finally know the whole picture and maybe understand why he is the way that he is. Thank you so much translators!

After ruminating on it for a bit, the best I can figure, is that it is the difference between a mafia and a gang, but this comic feels like a gang run by a mafia, which makes the whole point moot. Sort of like, hiring a hitman for a job, and then when that hitman gets caught, claiming no responsibility even after paying.

I suppose the in-universe comparison, would be Kirishima using that drug dealer's contact list to set up a drug ring outside the direct control of the Yakuza, which doesn't deal in drugs. I have doubts that plot point will come up again, but it'd be a great way for them to officially boot Kirishima out of the house. He isn't a member, so not going to take a finger or more, I'd wager.

Ah, you lost me, I'm afraid. The sake exchange and oath are what make a yakuza official as far as I know and the drug dealer thing isn't canon but that might change. We'll find out soon!

Yeah, it's taking forever to get to a real revelation and after how intense the last few chapters are this one feels like such a throwaway, almost comic relief.

The little details about Kyosuke's death and Yoshino's unequivocal assertion that Kirishima would get a chance to explain before she did anything more were big moments, and I loved the way she and Shouma interacted. Seems like this was sort of a pause after a lot of action.

Oooooooh getting more backstory—I’ve been absolutely frothing at the mouth waiting to see Kirishima’s childhood + what instigated his obsession with Yoshino. That ‘first most expensive thing he ever bought’ being a train ticket implied for the purpose of seeing her is still 👀👀👀 Been living rent-free in my mind ever since that absolutely bonkers convo with Tsubaki, I’m living for this, esp after meeting Sumire-san!!!

ALSO gotta give my flowers to Yoshino, she’s SO bad-ass as usual 😍😍😍 ‘Too stubborn to die’ yesssssssss ughhhhhh the look on her face. I do feel retroactively bad for Renji that his son seemed to die bc of him what a tragedy 😭😭 These yakuza better be prepared for Hurricane Yoshino to roll on through tho bc she’s DEFINITELY not gonna stay out of it 💜💜💜

Thanks for a great scanlation, Juice Box folks!! Love your work 💖

Thank you! Appreciate the love. 🥰

And same. One of the reasons we picked this up was to get ourselves as much as everyone else up to speed on this backstory. We've been waiting for it for literal years at this point.
