honestly a lot of people dont like katsuya because generally audience for this type of stories root for the protagonist for being "a badass" and views any character with antagonistic attitude towards the protagonist as annoying at best and villainous at worst, even when they're not written as a bad person. they get mad when people don't fall on their knees to fawn and praise the protagonist. weak shit, by the way. conflict is what makes a story interesting.

It reminds me Otome Isekai, where other plot-mportant women than the FMC are either servants, or rival needing to be burnt on the stake

Sorry, but no, we cannot accept that. The British didn't colonize the entire rest of the world to speak their language. Hmm, quite unfortunate for you but the Brits never colonized Poland (others tried and in the end failed quite miserably tbh) and Poland did in fact have colonies, but they were quite peaceful and very cooperative with the locals so if anyone is racist, it's not us.

It's cuz he's being built like a rival for the MC yet there's no pay off. 59 chapters and there's no confrontation or resolution, Katsuya constantly falls short of Akira and he and his friends annoy the hell out of him. Tired of reading the same shit with Katsuya. Do something or get out of the way.

Yeah, in Katsuya's defense, even Akira admits deep down he's a good guy, reckless and naive at times but rarely does he act out of ill will on his own.
The key problem is, he's written to take the dumb decisions, while he has some plot armor his groupies don't, ending in countless fatalities when things get out of hand, just so he can push forward.

Unironically playing with a team makes him lower his actual skill to coordinate with others, if he went lone wolf too like Akira, he'd definitely be stronger than Akira.

You are wrong about a lot of stuff, reasons why people hate Katsuya and WN spoilers below:

No Katsuya is in fact a lot weaker individualy than Akira.

He just has better gear and playing on a group is actually making him stronger because he's brainwashing via subconscious old world connection not only people in his group but anyone who comes into contact with him to think he's stronger than he actually is. It works by communicating with others on a subconscious level his image of himself, which is overinflated as he has protagonist syndrome. Later on this will evolve into his group will having the ability to "instinctively"(actualy via subconscious old world hive mind) share information on the battlefield and slowly his companions will become drones solely devoted to keep him alive.

This is also somewhat why people think Akira is weak and underestimate him. Akira unsconciously projects that image of himself into others subconscious because his own self-esteem and imposter syndrome.

Katsuya has just as much plot armor as Akira as in both of them are receiving help from the same old world entity, but in different ways. Idk about anyone else, but personaly I hate him because he's not as strong as it seems and other characters only think so because they are being brainwashed via old world connection and his own inflated ego, overblown nonsensical confidence and protagonist syndrome. He's also very narrow-minded, hot headed, hypocritical and not at all innocent, he realy is the reason a ton of people die pointlessly.

Or at least it is so in WN.

He will not change. He already jumped a guy stronger than him, Akira, and cannot recognize that the only reason he got away unscathed is because it was 3v1 and his companion negotiated and calmed Akira down. He is a serious case of protagonist syndrome. He also wrongly thinks himself superior to the veterans in his guild and has been put in his place multiple times already by the guy who was stuck with him despite hating his guts.

Ah it's annoying... the webnovel gives a lot more information of what is actualy going on by this point, the manga version is skipping over a lot of the hints and foreshadowing in favor of giving more screentime to Katsuya and his gang, a mistake in my personal opinion.
