idk about future plot but I guess it's time travel/loop/simulation world stuff with how alpha in his dream reaccounting previous run, if going with this plot.

then (probably) his previous runs failed because he's alone and at some point, he broke down and there's no allies for him to relied. hopefully this run will success with his own connection (caring shopkeeper, vet hunter,shrewd merchant,labourer and his goon) can't imagine sherry won over akira at all lol.

I don't think this manga is that magical with time travel or looping like that, Alpha in Akira's dream in chapter 12 is most likely talking about another people that she recruited for her cause but then failed due to various reasons. Indication of that is some of them is not dead but simply withdrawing from her request and people that can connect to old world is rare but doesn't means Akira is the only one who can see Alpha. In short there's 498 people that taken Alpha's request just like Akira and all of them failed.

Man anime fight logic really doesn't mesh well with guns.
They could have easily shot back when sheryl got taken but the dudes are "too anime strong" so its impossible to shoot at them
Well they had a hostage so they shouldn't have tried anyway.
Really bogs down the flow though weird situations like this could be avoided by the dude just holding a gun to sheryl's head so her dudes stand down.

Akira was all about himself but it's nice to see him slowly to trust or cared about his allies.

I don't think its time travel its just other dudes she has tried to work with before akira.
She has probably been at this for hundreds of years.

Is that how it is? It's been a while since I read the chapter recounting the previous runs, but I took it to mean she attempted to do it with other people. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for her to say she doesn't really understand Akira.
Plus it would make a lot more sense why it took this long after the super-advanced civilization fell into ruin before she went for whatever it is she's going for, which right now I would assume is either something to save or doom humanity.

I see, I thought her previous attempted talk was all about akira since she talking about how to "adapt" her plan from previous run but yeah. the not akira seems possible too when you guys mentioned it and might be just alpha being too "AI" to understand human emotion.

i feel like it'll not worth the risk that the bad guys have friend going after them after some time. Just kill them and hang their head in the wasteland would be enough, or throw them in the middle of the monster horde with broken arm or smt

I don't think they really are. I think he saved her not because he cares, but because she's an efficient taskmaster that serves him well. He takes care of those who do right by him, after all; that's always been a driving core factor of his personality.
