man i was hoping rat homie would hit, but alas, it wont happen

quick questions for my peeps with better memory... in page 15, when rat Ghee mentions something about defeating that man, he refers to the guy that defeated Vivian right? so then Vivian is her slave, how can she fight againts him again? im confused

also, im confused about the final fight, although i guess they will explain better next chapter, but it when something like:
  • mikagami is the target of 1 bullet + knife, alice is the target of 1 bullt
  • mikagami swaps with alice, then alice swaps with Paula, that why we see Paula getting shreded and Mikagami too, and the only one safe is Alice, which then waprs above Vivi for the kill?
am i getting that right?

Shit. I just hope the audience was entertained enough that Desmos takes it a bit easy on Ghee but it might not happen

Wow, the reactions are far more varied than I expected, but I, for one, am satisfied with how things played out. Now all that remains is the aftermath.

Vivi's backstory and motivations are a little different than what I envisioned, but she's not bad at all and fairly unique. Maybe she and Kouji can come to an understanding due to their mutual appreciation of the coliseum as the perfect environment to seek their respective thrills. I'm looking forward to how she and Paula are going to be incorporated into his stable. As second-string girls, I don't expect they'll get much screen time/attention, but I hope they're set up in a way we can get at least some mileage out of their characters as part of the peanut gallery, like Suzu. Hopefully, Chris will be remembered and at least used for some jokes/snark this coming arc.

Speaking of the coming arc... I wonder what kind of opponents will be cooked up to push the gamer/skill otaku duo to their limits?:thonk:

I'm guessing Mr.Ghee is extremely self loathing because he is so unattractive, and wants to get the ass of the woman he believes to be the peak, the top of the food chain, so prove his worth.
If I remember correctly, Ghee agreed to give her everything if he lost, so I kind of feel bad for him. :meguuusad:
Hopefully there's a kinder outcome to his story.
Everything would include his dick if Desmos decided that. Ghee still has a chance to "win" here.

It's not about beating him, it's about when he loses.
Essentially this is just answering the question "What happened the girls' slaves after they became Mikagami's slaves?", by showing what happened to another gladiator's slave. They just get moved from "___'s Slave" to "Throwaway Slave" that can be bought. It also implies that forced losses, like they one they tried in Mikagami vs Fiene, aren't unusual given that the conversation starts with Vivian speaking as if she's already been bought, immediately shifting to pointing out she's still owned by that guy until he loses, finally and ending on her agreeing to be bought.

Interestingly enough, this chapter shows clearly that this arc has been full of oddities. Slaves of gladiators aren't allowed to fight, or at least they weren't at the time shown prior to Vivian getting bought. This means these tag team matches are entirely new, or unprecedented in composition, since Mary, Marl, Alice, and Fiene should not be allowed to fight, which makes sense they're supposed to be getting bred relentlessly and fighting rather significantly interferes with that. The audience even started to speculate on match possibilities once it became known these slaves would be involved.

No, Mikagami is the target of both bullets and the wind knife, the delay of the second bullet means he can't block both. So instead, he cuts off Paula's legs so she falls to her death, and dies after being blown apart by the first bullet and wind knife, with Alice finishing off Vivi while they were both in freefall.

i see, i was just assuming the second bullet was razor focused on Alice, but i guess if Alice warps above Vivian for the kill, she already evaded it

At the end of chapter of chapter 14, bottom of page 29, kitty announcer did outright state "... and today he came with another person! For the first time in this coliseum!" So yes, this has all been uncharted territory, and I suspect we'll get an even wider variety of match compositions in the future so that we can include at least one of the first-string girls in every match but give the second-string ones a chance to shine and team up with Kouji for some bonding.

Fair point there, I did miss that one. There's been those subtle bits, because the "first time" could also just be the first time he's there with another person, the first time Mary's a slave, and so on. I think this is just the first outright confirmation that the sex slaves are not supposed to double up as combatant slaves.
The addition of more girls doesn't just allow for 3vs3 matches either. It allows for sidelining some characters for extended periods to the cheer squad due to pregnancy, which can add an extra layer of tension since losses would mean losing his kid(s) at that point too.

Thanks for explaining this--I feel like it was really confusing in the manga, and honestly I still don't completely get it, but at least I understand that Mikagami took a kamikaze action now.

As dynamic as the art is, it really lacks clarity sometimes.
