I didn't expect Karim to be killed off.

Was he too smart for the author to keep around?
I feel like he was half-baked. His shaken belief in the cause he stood for could have been developed into a source of strength.

Either in complete acceptance of the things he's done, reluctantly or otherwise, or by becoming stronger in spite of not having access to his ability because of his lack of faith.

He lost to the power of fried chicken and sparkling mentos.
And similar as the warden, he's too much of a good guy for the fights to come considering we're going deeper into the morally gray area now.
