Not really, you can have a passion, but still deem it necessary to have a way to make money or even make your not as financially viable dream a side gig. I have a lot of friends who do the same thing whether music or something similar. Hell Junji Ito was a dentist with a degree in dental technology before he became a full time Mangaka. So no, the priorities are not wrong it differs from person to person. Unless you enjoy eating cup ramen every night.

I totally get the "you have to pay the bills while you're chasing your dream" concept, but going into medicine when it's not your desired career is insane! It's like one of the most expensive careers to get into, right? Granted, maybe it's not so bad in Japan, cause they have a lot of public education funding I think, but it's also still a huge time commitment. How long did she spend becoming a surgeon? The only way it makes sense to me is if she only realised she wants to do manga either after becoming a surgeon or on her way to becoming one,  or she was pushed into becoming a surgeon by her parents.

Or, alternatively, she's a side character and the author hasn't put any thought into it besides "haha funy, surgeon wants to be mangaka, big gap moe"

I hate gyms and sport, but I'm technically rich with a healthy social life. I'm also over 50 and that manga is technically Seinen. I would prefer the main male character to have a bit more personality but I read this one because it's fun and have a strong positive energy.

sadly, I think more people relate to our mid 20's college degree, overworked janitor, working mostly with older folk, with trauma from previous work abuse than your lifestyle. Maybe he'll heal overtime, but I can understand where Naruto is coming from.
