mc is retarded, and not even because he didn't react in time to the ambush but because he didn't have the foresight that the dick heads who were throwing rocks at him will call for back up and arrange a sneak attack. they dragged the OG body into a centipede infested cave and smashed his head against a rock, what did he think was gonna happen when he waltzes back in to the village like nothing happened. connect the dots dipshit, run through the village, shove your entire house into you inventory and gtfo there as quick as possible.

I think you guys expect too much from a person that just got reincarnated into someone elses body with powers

I dont see how not knowing the previous bodies owner situation makes the MC "retarded". How was reincarnated to a new world and has NO IDEA what is going on so of course he would fall for an ambush like that.

I'm guessing this is gonna be the old "black hair=evil" trope.

So MC was hit by surprise, but the attack didn't even make him feel pain and the way he wanted to react to it is play dead and see, what the dipshits are going to do next while doing absolutely nothing himself? I mean, if the attack was basically less noteworthy than a mosquito bite, MC could've easily stood back up again, restrain at least one of the dipshits and interrogated them on their reasoning. I guess the only benefit to his behaviour so far would be, that they're taking him far away from the village which would make it harder for them to escape and call for backup and this would give MC more time for interrogation and, if needed, to flee.

I thought hunters were supposed to be conscious of their surroundings. 🤔

Nice to see another series with comments filled with trolls looking for any small mistake so they an call the MC a retard, even though they would do worse in the same situation.

@Halo : when in the woods/wilds and actively paying attention. But that is a matter of habit developed over years, and they can still be ambushed. Especially since the signs they look for, like snapping twigs, are not generally present in town. MC is not a hunter, he is still a Japanese civilian at heart and without the time to develop that habit.

The guy is probably trying to test whether he will burn at stake or something😀
It will be hilarious if he returns again.

@sjmcc13 By the same logic, MC isn't a swordsman. But he unlocked some skills, raised his stats and was able to wield the sword.
It was repeatedly stated that he inherited hunter-related abilities this body had. Moreover, his body was additionally "strengthened" by other skills.
All that, just to get ambushed by some 3 random peasants?

Although, the title does have the "inferior" in it...

Normal human being in such a situation: "I just got all those skills, most of them are not passive and i can't even remember their names, where do i even start?"
People from comment section: "Wait, how can't he do all that stuff from the get go!? That guy is OP Isekai MC, so he can't make mistakes based on human factor!"
Me when i see all that: "I have nothing better to do right now, so i'll write some shitty comment and later i'll be thinking about all of it while asking the same question my avatar does."

@Halo : basic swordsmanship is a lot simpler and quicker to learn then the awareness needed in the wilds. But the skills would be for when he is focusing on them, not distracted and doing something else.

Plus like I said, and you ignored, a hunters awareness would be trained for the sounds in the wild that signify predators. those sounds are not going to happen nearly as much in town, and most will blur into the background, or me muffled beyond recognition by the walls. The only sound that would have been a real clue is the door opening. But that would rely on him having closed it in the first place, and the manga does not show if it was open or closed, even if it was closed they might be able to open it without making enough noise depending on several factors.

Also, if the skills are supposed to be from the body, then that means him missing them is 100% excusable because those 3 already over took the kid once
and the kids parents
, so they would kind of need to be good enough to get around the kids awareness.
