I suppose at least they were honest about the quality, but damn, I wasn't expecting it to be that bad...

Not even honest, they said 'some' mistakes. More like mistakes in every other word!

Great April fools joke, maybe next time save it for April, eh?

Also to everyone else saying that this MTL is bad, don't disrespect MTL like that, this is much worse. Google Translate can at least the context of what's being said, this doesn't even achieve that.

If you can't do something justice then DON'T DO IT.
Especially for a manga that heavily relies on dialogue.

Look, I gotta ask. How come whenever a new scanslator wants to do something, they snipe an existing release instead of, say, reviving an old series prior scanslators dropped or going with a completely new manga that hasn’t been scanslated before?

Eh, I'd guess it is has two reasons:
1- they can use the old scanlator's work for names, terms and the like. I doubt this one mattered in this particular case though.
2- since it was not dropped, the usual scanlators will still release their own version. Meaning even if their amateur work is taken badly, at least people will have a better alternative soon

Suspicious reason:
-Practicing
-Testing the water
-Too impatient to wait for the usual group

Obvious reasons that no one discussed:
-Generate fame and drama
-Scambaiting
-Attempt to lure readers to personal website that runs ads or crypto miners

Most commonly used font ( from the poor knowledge i have ) are :
main text : cc wild word, anime ace
small text : augie, chinacat
thoughts/naration : zud juice, cc jim lee

But people might say to you :

"Ugh. Typesetting is art. Every manga has different line weight, thickness, funkiness, shading. So tailor the font you use to match best the manga you're working on."

Which is totally right, i personally doesn't have the skills needed.
As for tips, the translation is what matter the most in my case, it's fairly easy to make things look alright/fine, but bad translation just take you out of it. ( my opinion ( said from someone doing MTL ))
Thank you, and fair points.
I like to think I drabble a bit in art, so that helps I guess? And while I don't know japanese, I did take a translator course once, plus I am dependant on a lot of google translate when dealing with instructions of some codes in japanese so I know some of the small issues with machine translation. So I will only use an MTL as a base, to understand the context and meaning of the text, and do some proper editing of the text to make it actually make sense and be readable.

I can see testing the waters, but practicing... as others mentioned, most of this, including cleaning, seems to be pure machine-made.
And it is not like this is two months late or something. Don't think it is impatience either. This manga is not Jojo or Naruto-near-the-end levels of fanbase.

There was definitely drama though. And I guess any fame is good fame if you are aiming for visits to run ads and cryptominers on.
But...
How would "scambaiting" work here?

Can't be the fault of the machine doing the translation.

Someone purposely designed this translation in a laboratory to maximize pure community outrage.

This is a new term I came up with due to groups like ComicDom. They'll attempt to snipe popular series and outright ask for donation for the next batch, then after a few drops, they'll run away claiming the money has dried up so they can't pay TL anymore. Obviously this particular chapter doesn't fault into that category, but with a bit more (ahem) effort, it could easily pull that off.

Dark_KB Official translation is horrible. No effort no typesetting nothing...
