Red Herring? What's the reverse of Chekov's Gun?
Amazing rant and explanation mate, it was very informative. I already knew this but its nice seeing something trying to inform others of the facts.I have to make this rant because this is easily the most unrealistic chapter I've ever read.
Normally, run tricks do not get a leaderboard ban just because they can cause injuries. The types of things that usually get a category ban are device specific things to equalize the field, or anything that requires you to nuke the device in ways that require a bunch of data corruption to happen. For anything injury causing like this, the solution is to either improve it so humans can do it (Also the approach usually taken to convert TAS tricks into human ones) or to just do it. At best you have a generic PSA on how mashing is bad for your health.
From a personal perspective, if the run is just 30m, then mashing isn't going to be that bad for your health if it gives you a few minutes unless you have to mash at Contra level speed while doing a bunch of other things (I've done 1h runs with rhythmic mashing before). In this case though, you can probably just roll the controller and get it done without anyone being injured.
Also, if the game is a 30m run with a popularity similar to a Nintendo game, Any% Cartwheels will 100% get a slot on the leaderboard if cartwheels are banned.
I honestly just assume he's talking about any% runs banning the cartwheel tech due to how much tech that is required to perform continuous cartwheels.I have to make this rant because this is easily the most unrealistic chapter I've ever read.

Also as a category evolves sometimes the mashing strat ends up becoming worse than a hybrid stratI have to make this rant because this is easily the most unrealistic chapter I've ever read.

Like they had to make a new leaderboard for Wind Waker specifically for manual superswim on outset island because the tech is an insane hurdle on its own on a regular any% run. I assume the same case is happening here.

A simple one being whistle sprinting in botw, where it doesn’t use stamina but normal sprinting is actually a little bit faster than w. sprinting, so people adapted to alternate between them for a faster run
I will say that sometimes if running communities are super small and the game theyre running isnt popular, bans can get passed so much easier. even for the most mundane strats that would be completely fine in other game speedruns. some of their total player count don’t even break 2,000 people so obviously theres very few people running.
You see while the boss arena locks you in it, due to the trader being pretty close you can buy 99 firebombs and then drop them at the fog gate and repeat this a few times to kill the boss with firebombs only.If he's not hiring strong adventurers with those moneys, I wonder where he'll use them
