So, there was mention that Ruri is supposed to have "9 traits", and so far she has horns, static discharge, venom, quick healing(?). Then she has "abilities" (do they come in nines too?): fire breath, weather control, frost. Then she has forms: limit form when she's strong, and I'm not sure, but it seemed like daemonfire was introduced as a "form" too, not a trait.

I thought that Ruri will have 9 freakish quirks in total, and the manga is about done introducing last of those. But if traits, abilities, and forms are on separate counters, then manga will be able to go on and on throwing new stuff at Ruri, and displaying her slow descend into madness due to self-loathing.

I still hold off to my theory that all of these are for when axe-kun is looming, author can switch gear into battle shonen with Ruri mastering all traits, abilities, and forms to fight

Believe it or not... i kinda understand why in this series... bureaucracy, it does not like to reveal things unless STRICTLY necessary... even when revealing it would have prevented more problems.

"Bureaucracy"? This stuff has "glowies" plastered all over it in giant neon lettering. "Need to know basis", their favourite.

Sensei is finally acknowledging his flawed approach so far but simultaneously saying he won't disclose more so more unexpected stuff will happen anyway... Frustrating.

I really hope they eventually tell us WHY he can't disclose all the powers later on cause like you said it is annoying

My theory is that if he discloses all the powers then maybe they will all manifest aka if your aware of it you will get it like I think I'm sick = your brain makes it so your sick.

That is a good question, i have been asking that, i have two guesses... first, just like Ruri's mother somehow rizzed a dragon (yes, she rizzed him, not the other way, that dragon is lucky she even payed attention to him), some dragons simply loved humanity enough to make a stand for them.

Second... despite some incredible abilities, dragons here do seem to have limits, the eletrict ability as example, it was said it is something that can take months even years to charge enough to really go wild, still strong even at a low output i have no doubt but the thing is... humans are smart enough and persistent enough to observe and learn, give it enough time and them developing a few ways to hunting dragons isnt far-fetched, even if the resources for that were really big.

And kind of a third that came to mind when I was writing... maybe fertility between dragons isn't particularly high, losing a few even if the others can retaliate, puts strain on their numbers, so a treaty is better for them.

These are a few scenarios, and pretty superficially said too, these can have many more details going on, which could explain things, or there can be other explanations.

But i do think Shindou-sensei has thought of it, he just hadnt had the chance to explore that, there is a chance that he even just mentions it en passant in the story, as the focus may stay of Ruri just growing up, but i still think we will have more details... it seems there is a lot of surprises even between the ryus about how many abilities Ruri seems to have inherited, they may want to keep a close why on her too.

I think the subtle message here about why Ruri awakened her temperature control powers NOW and the lesson on Dragon Territory, is after the cultural festival and feeling a sense of community with her schoolmates, Ruri's body said "I am comfortable here. This is my territory."

Do you want a shitty explanation dump where nothing is expected or discovered, or do you want an interesting and fun narrative where we discover things at the same time ruri does so we can enjoy each ability as they come instead of rushing to get through them all?
