Oh nice, I like where this is going.

It's definitely true that firearms and modernisation into professional soldiery remove the need for a warrior class. The Satsuma rebellion in Japan (ex. Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai) were samurai more or less fighting against their obsolescence.

Like crazy gun nuts often like to quote, "God created men, Colt made them equal."

I love martial arts but honestly speaking even three idiots with guns will beat a grandmaster in most situations. Infamously, the boxers of the Boxer Rebellion in China believed the age old trope that a kung fu master is impervious to weapons - including the firearms of foreign armies.

But this is a fantasy story with heroes and wizards, so I'm interested in how differently things will go down.

Let's remember that the same was told about the crossbows. They were even banned for some time. Outrageous how easy peasant could kill a knight with it.

What a title... 'self proclaimed arch-bishop of the Meganeus sect'...

I wonder if s/he will try to convert Yoshida? =P

@Nimroth What's the point of a warrior-class if they're not powerful? It's kinda like how the development of firearms pretty much destroy the standard knights and samurai class. Some might be able to adapt, but those who invest a lot in their armor and weaponry won't be able to go out without a fight.

A bit unrelated, but there is a theory that the Invasion of Korea during the Japanese Sengoku jidai (warring states era) was meant to diminish the warrior class, and that whether or not they succeed is secondary.

@Grimmycoffee Well my point is just that while her motivation is understandable, it doesn't mean she is doing it for a morally good reason.
She is a mage that can cause large scale disasters, and seem unapologetic about it, and given that it is a setting where there can be lots of people like her I have a hard time seeing guns as necessarily any worse than an elite of magic users.

Are those actual citations of artworks when he writes stuff like Harley MS 3244 on page 12 under the dragon?
