It was completely unintentional. The FMC did not know that there was a dragon living there. That being said, she never came clean about it until later when his mind has already been made up that she tried to kill him.

That being said, why is that these guys are always so quick to banish/expel the friend but never delegate them to another part of the team? She definitely isn't evil but she is definitely not nice to the MC during his lowest moments.

As we saw in this chapter, she gets on him for being useless and getting in the way. It ultimately turns out that she would cry herself to sleep at night for her behavior towards the MC only to berate him again the next day. Rinse and repeat.

What hurts about this is that later, the FMC's clan starts recruiting people of the same rank the MC was when he was kicked out of the team and helps them train and get stronger.

Wondering If I should add a TL note for the issue of Weapon master or not. since It may be confusing to some people and lacks clarity, which is why I TL'd it as Uepon...

It's actually better than everyone thinks. I just hope the translation continues because it's really worth it. I've read the novel so I know that.

Yes, I like it, and I’d call it decent since it avoids the usual clichés like “male party member wants a harem so he kicks the MC,” “there’s brainwashing,” or “someone is purely evil.” Instead, characters are just misguided and actually develop. (The MC starts out edgy, but you can’t blame him, and he mellows out.) But honestly... there are TONS of stories like this, the plot isn’t that well thought-out, with plenty of time skips, pacing issues, and random scene jumps, and sometimes it seems like the author’s not sure what to do with the characters or the direction.

In a sea of similar stories, this one’s easy to miss. (The only reason I even know about it is from a big “betrayed-by-his-party” binge of WNs I did back in 2022-23 so I read A LOT OF TRASH, and in comparison, this one aight.) I’m honestly surprised it got a LN adaptation (two volumes so far, I think) and now a manga adaptation.

Can't believe this got a manga adaptation. I read the WN from time to time when I remember it exists, and frankly, it's not that bad, but you can tell the author is a total amateur, especially during the first few arcs, which have a bit of random stuff happening from time to time. (That being said, I'm not fully up to date)

One thing I really like about this story (well, the WN, as I haven't read the LN)

is that there isn’t really a "villain" in the main circles, including the FMC's party and the MC’s side. Yes, there are misunderstandings, drama, and mistakes, but no one is truly evil. Take Robin from the FMC’s party, who’s a cinnamon roll, or even Reynold, who might raise some eyebrows at first but is honestly a decent dude who gets shit done; someone who would be the MC in another story, for example. The only character I’d call a bitch is Piazolla, but you get used to her over time, and she has her reasons for being the way she is.

i will say this though, i 100% definitely would give this title a read if the LN ver. is translated, simply because a lot of WN that have issues in the writing, usually got fixed in the LN ver. since there's editor and people who quality check before the book is printed

I know what you're talking about but I follow the writer, editor and even the illustrator on Twitter and the editor said that this story has been edited more than any other story so it will probably be different from the novel. Also you're leaving out the good stuff like the main character's fights which are fun and also the characters on the main character's side are fun and awesome

I can see that.

And with smartphone ownership going from like 20% to 80% in Japan during the past decade just as WN/LN started becoming more mainstream, it meant that nearly everyone had easy access to tools for writing and publishing independently.
So, when something became popular, it made sense that everyone jumped on the trend.
