It's because armour as skimpy as that won't do anything. Heck, it can't even be counted as armour with how little there is protection on the vital areas on the front.

My one biggest issue with her current gear is the fact that if any attack lands on her and doesn't happen to strike her armour, it will injure her, superficial or not. It would've been much better if she wore other forms of protection instead of just having a bra the stuff "protecting" her chest. Gambeson underneath with more of the alloy put into having a boob plate over her breasts would be magnitudes of times better for protection. If this world has fantasy metals, it surely has fantasy cloth/linen as well. Not to mention you can also use the hides of monsters as an alternative. My main point being that she needs to wear something other than just her armour.

Don't even get me started on helmets but I'll let that slide since she's basically a rogue.

@Toriichii You really, really missed my point there. Pointing out that skimpy armour won't actually protect you, is like pointing out that water is wet, and fire is hot. It's 110% completely stating the obvious. Everyone already knows it's useless as actual armour. From our perspective as readers, it's not there to actually protect anything. It's there to show off her body, because it's an ecchi series. If you want realistic, or even poorly designed, vaguely realistic armour, then you're reading the wrong series.

And I agree with you about helmets--if I was only allowed to pick 2 pieces of armour, it'd be a helmet and a shield--, but helmets are frequently left out, so you can see the characters faces etc. Unless you're aiming for realistic accuracy, literary license trumps realism and practicality.

I understand this is an ecchi manga, but there are plenty of ways to show off her body without giving her almost zero protection. It may also be just me, but no matter what type of manga it is, if someone goes to buy armour for themselves, I expect the armour to at least not be to this degree of ridiculous.

I agree with a lot of people, it's not even a low hanging fruit that the mangaka went for. The mangaka literally went fora fruit that was just lying on the ground. Guess the mangaka doesn't understand that covering up more, but done in the right way, can be even more appealing. This method is just trashy and unappealing.

Some bikini armor worlds at least use the excuse that the armor is like an "anchor" for the "forcefield" that is your "hit points" (also dipping into solving the problem of how a human can have hit points enough to withstand a dozen solid hits from a longsword without even raising a sweat, much less being affected by blood loss)

Besides, Aria's tits and sexuality are constantly the punchline of jokes, it'd be weird if her new armor covered up more than her old.

That's even worse or at the very least not any better, like you say it's just an excuse and not the real reason for why they're wearing lewd armor.
If you're going to use an excuse I prefer less contrived ones, like in an earlier chapter where Tama thinks something like "Oh, the less she wears the faster she's able to move" which is a factually correct statement. Or just don't bring it up and treat it as if it's natural.
