@TheDocperian Yeah, I think they do that with this sort of adaptation specifically so they can get the attention of people who might like particular character designs. The manga adaptations for harem novels generally have like the whole basic harem laid out in at least one piece of art in the first volume for example. That's definitely a genre that's made or broken by the interest in the cast designs after all. Similarly, something like this one kind of banks on cuteness to make their sales, so getting that fox on the cover before its introduction was probably a bit of marketing I suppose. Like you said, you're still excited to see it show up.

@TheDocperian @Glomoro The volume cover was released well after both character's introduction, the only reason we're spoiled by it was because people insisted on using latest cover on MD whereas scanlation has yet to catch up. I wish people'd just leave this to the main group who's scanlating each series, but yeah, that sucks.

I'm confused. The Great Forest Spirit name is clearly stated as ドリ which in romaji is DORI. It can also be turned into Dory or Dolly depending on preference. Did you by any chance translated this chap not from the RAW but from another language? Cause there would be absolutely no reason why ドリ=RYAH.

@RonBWL I've always felt like the series page should just use the first volume cover for multiple reasons. This is kind of one of them, but mostly it's making the series visually recognizable instead of having its appearance in the series listings for searches and such change with every volume. This series is a good example, I had no idea who the hell the new cover people were so I didn't even remember which series this was until I took a look at volume 1 and was like "Oh, right. That one." A lot of the stuff on here uses covers like this one, so without those early cast members in sight I'm in the dark without taking a closer look at them.

@AnimeKnowAll A bit of a late reply but anyways... We did translate from Japanese raw, the name was simply localized. I'll spare you the details of our week-long discussion but basically it's decided that her name is converted to something reflecting Forest element while still trying to stay close to raw, and thus Ryah was picked.

Ryah questions Sylph's reasons for helping Yuuta but it makes sense, he's helping revitalize the deadlands and in turn the world that the original human inhabitants have destroyed in their downward spiral of self destruction and genocide, if he succeeds he can bring life back to the planet and the spirits.

And if he can bring life back to the spirits then once the not adorable chibi humans are out of the way the cute can take over the world!
