@Ohgodpleaseno As Whimsi just said, it's basically because the assassination target's dad doesn't want to let her fall into the hands of greedy nobles who'd use her superior genes to produce magical talents.

It sure sounds to me like he needs to assassinate all the arsehole nobles that took over the kingdom and then install Dia as their queen.

@WhimsiCat I got that part, but why not just commit suicide then? Getting the assassin involved seems like a convoluted way to kill yourself and your daughter, especially since it seems like there isn't much time.

@Ohgodpleaseno if they kill themselves then the nobles would just take it their anger on everyone left, but if they are killed then the nobles would probably blame each other, like ''you killed them coz if i got the girl my family would be too powerful!, didnt you'', and without the lord and the girl the resistance will just crumble and they will probably live, like in jail but live at least

@phil777 no, it was explained that Count Vicorne thought that the nobles would slaughter his people and retainers if he was just captured or surrendered.

It was the Count's retainers and people who though "Fuck no, don't give your daughter to them, fuck these assholes we'll fight them off."

It's on pg 4.

this is stupid if she only had talent i would understand it but since she know how to do magic this exchange is equal to forcing a bomb or a gorilla to marry you
the amount of damage that could be dealt from the inside would be no joke not to mention she doesn't even need a knife to finish you off just a moment of carelessness

@me474: You are making a lot of assumptions about the practicality of her current magical abilities in an actual battle, her current reserve of magical energy (and regeneration rate), and the combat and magical capabilities of the noble-aligned forces.

Oh, and also, she's a fucking child who has never trained for life-or-death fights or to kill people; it's very likely that at this time, even if she's facing imminent death/rape/abduction, she'd have a very hard time actually mustering the will to kill another human being. I expect that she will by the end of this event, but she will break down from the trauma like she should... and then after Lugh takes her away to live under a new identity, he can start training her in how to apply her talents for killing people, since she probably will want revenge on the nobles for not only their dastardly rebellion, but for killing her father, many of her family's subjects and retainers, and attempting to abduct her to monopolize her magical gift for themselves.

she has magical power almost as powerful as the mc and he trained her a little bit in long range combat and she is 3 years older than the mc which would make her legal as soldier at least
it's just a shitty excuse so she can join the harem without worrying about her political background and the author ignored all logic to archeive this goal

Citation Needed.

and he trained her a little bit in long range combat
No, what he did was teach her how to use a bunch of firearms against trees and rocks. Which are perfectly stationary targets. Learning how to aim and shoot a hunting rifle at a bull's-eye does jack shit in preparing you for fighting for your life against a spec-ops team that have years of intensive training and state-of-the-art military gear.

and she is 3 years older than the mc which would make her legal as soldier at least
First, this fantasy world is modelled after medieval European societies; that immediately puts a social barrier in the form of gender expectations (women aren't expected to fight), and the existence of female knights such as Dia's bodyguard only proves that exceptions exist, not that they're the rule.

Second, even in real-life medieval Europe, "legal age to become a soldier" didn't equate to universal conscription. A country needs a lot more civilians than it needs soldiers to function, and if the country is enjoying a period of relative peace, has no militaristic culture to speak of and the noble family does not have an unusually strong military tradition, then it would be unreasonable to assume that said family's scions must go through military training at some point in their lives.

Got any more bullshit arguments to throw at me?
