I agree with Tju, it reads well and doesn't feel out of place.
Also the story makes me wonder how different history would be if more artifacts and knowledge from the past could've been preserved for the future.

Hmmm... seems Akechi really chose to "ally" himself with Shizuko.

Still... considering what happens in history with him and Oda... can't exactly say he won't follow the same path.

The historical reason for his betrayal is still unknown, so whatever it was could have been from just him seeing the tides turn to a completely personal reason that could range from some petty peeve to some great ambition.

Main issue of course, that to contemporary people a lot of it is likely not even that special.
