I mean...yeah. I think everyone can see that this what Mitsuo did was a little fucked up. I don't think anyone's denying that.

I just think there's no point getting up in arms about the actions of a dude from an era where behavior like that was pretty much normalized. It be like me getting upset about a manga whose setting is pre-Civil War America showing someone owning and abusing slaves. I know slavery is wrong, but that's just what happened back then—it's just history.

Do we wanna pretend shit like this didn't happen? Other people from that time period who "should know better" did worse things. It's not a contest but just something to keep in mind.

It's fucked up because the dude is from modern times. If he was just a rando from sengoku era it would be historical.
But this guy is from our world. That's like if I travel to a country where child marriage is accepted and get a kid pregnant.
In comparison, the main character sticks to her morals and tries to minimize deaths and improve common folks lives. The old guy has no excuse...

I agree he's not a pedo (like, she's not a child child) but he literally was like "I'll treat her like a granddaughter" and then ended up having sex with her. Like, to his mind she's granddaughter age, makes it pretty gross to then get down and dirty. It's at least bordering on predatory, even if the situation itself is complex enough to make it a gray area. Still gross tho
