Modernized guns were one thing but introducing thermite into this era is just plain overkill.

Couldn't be more correct. On wooden target, I can't think of any advantage thermite have more than oil or gunpowder. At least it's speculating, with all flying spark and intense heat they could feel.

Not to mention that processing either happens in vacuum. Or later with huge electric power consumption...
Hmmm. Need to check, but iirc those early process use fluorine.

What should we call weapons that kill more workers to make them than enemy they kill?

feels like there aren't any obstacles left and oda's just going to steamroll the rest of japan with their guns.

I can't see anything interesting about this or on the horizon. the author better introduce something new soon or else I'm gonna drop

Why thermite? There isn't a supply chain of aluminium in any capacity yet, or ways to refine it. Stupidly overkill for wood, paper, and stone structures. I guess the author needed some kind of powerful weapon you can make with general chemistry knowledge I guess.

edit: reading up on this, there was stuff called "alum" that was commonly traded even if people didn't know about aluminium, still seems kinda like an expensive overkill.

Feels like commodore Perry's expedition force of this particular time line will be met with gun ships, seaplanes and submarines ... Not that I'm complaining though.

...what do you mean, she introduced the thermite bomb? Well, most likely, this is Ashimitsu's initiative, but what have they done?

really hard to say. for a while now they only translated very sporadically. last update to their own website was in 2024 as far as I can see, and when you check their mangadex group page you see that there are months between uploads.
last translated novel chapter also was in 2024 according to novelupdates.

yado is one of the oldest translation groups, so to me it simply feels like the members changed priorities in their life or they simply don't have as much time anymore to translate.
Can't really count on site since it is updated last for ch 68 / volume 14. Safe to say they are more vocal on discord instead tbese days I would guess.

Sometimes this series is a bit ridiculous.

"Aluminium"?
Isn't that hard to produce?

Also, "I made THE bomb, hope no one dies". Seriously?

I came here to make the aluminum comment but everyone else mentioned it already. I'm kind of proud of this manga's fans.

As for alum I don't think it or other aluminum salts can produce a thermite reaction. Alum is already in its fully oxidized state. It’s already “spent” from a chemical energy standpoint.

Strange that the author chose aluminum as there are many other substances that can produce thermite reactions, such as iron and copper. Those two may not be quite as powerful as aluminum + iron thermite reactions but at least they were obtainable. Aluminum was just being theorized in the West in Oda's day, but nobody knew if it existed or not.

Has Yado-Inn drop this series?
Of course not. But MTL speedscan slurpers gotta slurp.

More like impossible: native aluminium is almost non existent, to the point the metal was discovered only in 1825, and its refinement was so hard that it cost more than gold. It didn't become widespread until 1886 with the introduction of the Hall-Heroult process, involving temperature in excess of 950°C and extremely intense currents.

So yeah, no termite for Oda Nobunaga

Maybe it’s not iron-aluminium thermite, but rather copper-iron thermite.
