What happened there?

Basically when there was only 1 last dude to MC to get revenge, the author pulled out that the main bad guy created a cult, MC got to deal with some timeskip+amnesia bs, and Basically everything was set back to square one, since now MC have to reach the main bad guy by passing his minions again, but now the bad guy has more power because he became a cult leader with a bunch of crazy people doing stuff for him, the story went downhill from that point on.
