that said the “love triangle with myself” bit is probably wearing a little thin. If this is going to be more of a romance than a gag manga I hope it gets resolved soon. Maybe Izumi can give his blessing to Reina pursuing Ishizumi instead of him.

I appear to have reached a point where I am provoked to start doing some spring cleaning to my reading list, and this one has now reached the trigger point for being dropped. The single gag is WAY PAST breaking point. There is building tension and there is Rent-A-Girlfriend bottomless voidness. I basically no longer care. Tropes and clichés are being thrown at the plot, hoping something will stick, all while the progress dial is still at ZERO. At least Clark Kent wore glasses. This just has "beer goggles" that can work after one can of light ale, or not work after a full night on the sake. I'm getting out of here before I become collateral damage to Axe-kun. Smoke me a kipper....

yea it's more that like you're saying, this premise works best when it's a full comedy or gag manga, as soon as the story starts taking itself seriously it kinda breaks down a bit

it's still mostly a comedy tho so I don't think it's that bad, at least when you compare it with stuff like that moon and the wolf manga which uses the same premise but is much more drama heavy

the only way i can see this manga getting away with stretching out the resolution to the main conflict of the romance A-plot is having a killer, top-tier, satisfactory romantic B-plot with great secondary characters and real stakes and all that, so it can keep us readers engaged in the main story while also giving us some good romantic resolution on the side...
something like this should have been set up and developing at least 10-20 chapters ago. No character outside the main duo has gotten anything near a good character development or backstory at all.
I just don't see it, tbh. If this dumb-ass double personality schtick isn't resolved soon-ish i will also be dropping this, sadly.

the real premise of the story isn't "this girl is in love with X guy when she's drunk and Y guy when she's sober, but they're actually the same guy!?" it's "this dumb idiot gets drunk and starts flirting like crazy with her shy subordinate: hilarity ensues". You can totally keep it going without the stupid fake-identity thing, it is not needed, never was.

Main arc which basically Reina becoming the True Boss is long and far down the road from wrapping up. Part of the tension (or trope) is the MC having to navigate two identities. Drop it if you want, it's actually a refreshing change in plot narrative from all the other cookie cutter Office Romance mangas out there.

I doubt the author would make any bold moves but it's still possible. Compared to the initial chapters there has been some progress with Reina and a little bit of others' character. Yeah it's been a bit slow but I think this manga was intended to be slow.
