There is a fairly narrow range of good anticlimax to be found in waiting this long to confirm a death from the sort of never-found-the-body arc resolution that set up her return. The implicit promise of not conclusively saying the character is finished is that there's more you plan to do with them later, and we've established the island is fairly closed-off.

eh?? not really... killing people pointlessly usually an easier thing to do in writing because so many writer didn't really plan ahead. if the plot didn't fixed well enough in the future, writer usually introduce new character barely introduced but suddenly they are that important. it would feel very underwhelming than feeling excited because of the high stakes.

rosemary is that important of character. if you want a character to be killed, kill someone else. like the last newbie group's member maybe..

So that confirms my thoughts last chapter that they're stuck on the island. But the fact their lives might be tied to Great Grandfather raises some concerns about the Shadows we care about if he dies.

Also this makes me wonder about Rosemary's life before the Manor. The fact she's so devoted to Maryrose and has no interest in returning to her old life... Very interesting.
