Men don't look for a degree or a high salary in a wife. Males are biologically programmed to desire fertile females, and men are no different

I don't wanna get into the whole nature vs nurture debate, so I'm gonna come at this from another angle:

Personally, I wouldn't wanna marry that kind of man anyways. A guy who "looks for" a woman's appearance or "fertility", uhhhhh, sucks. Same with dudes who look for degrees or high salaries too, tho. RIP to hetero women, I guess, stuck with so few decent romantic options. I mean, if a dude is actively deciding on a partner according to his (possibly) inherent desire for a young, fertile partner, wouldn't he just divorce his wife when she's "too old" and go back out on the town looking for someone else?

I guess my point is that even if waiting so long to get a husband severely reduces the available candidates, at least it means they won't end up with some jackass who'll abandon them (emotionally or literally) as soon as they're past 35

I was going to say something but taking a glance at this comment section has made me reconsider. Some opinions are best left unsaid, in certain places

Calm down. I'm using biology because it has the least subjective variables to work with. Things like preferences and what a person is looking for in a relationship are too vague and vary between each individual. Once could argue about subjective viewpoints forever.

Let's see : having already invested too much into the family to just destroy it like that, children, societal pressure, having to pay alimony, etc.
You're saying as if there's no negative consequences for the man to divorce his wife just like that. In contrast, a woman lose nothing from filing a divorce in the West (has almost guaranteed child custody, gets free money from the ex-husband, etc), and a lot of men have been divorce-raped because the women just want free money from child support. RIP to hetero men.
I guess my point is that even if waiting so long to get a husband severely reduces the available candidates, at least it means they won't end up with some jackass who'll abandon them (emotionally or literally) as soon as they're past 35
I suppose, if you're an idealist. Here, let me posit a few darker possibilities :
- she might not end up with anyone at all
- she might end up with someone who just wants her money
- she might end up with someone that she doesn't really want, but have no choice because there aren't any options left (this is what we call "settling for less")
I'm speaking from an American perspective, but usually these single older women will try to expand their options overseas. They're usually taken advantage of by men who just want to get the green card. I've seen it happen many times. It's very sad to look at.

But that was basically my point. Your argument was based on men being biologically inclined to ignore older women in favor of younger women, when it's way more complicated than that. Just because they work through their "fertile period" doesn't mean they're gonna be automatically SOL. No matter how large the dating pool is, you still gotta find and "catch" the right kind of person

In any case, I'm not gonna go around in circles arguing over this. Feel free to reply with a rebuttal if you want, but I'm calling it done on my part

Yes, stupid women wasting their time building up the skillset to get employed in a job and finding meaning and satisfaction in doing so. And then what? Further developing those skills throughout their career and working their way up the ladder? Who could want that?
You seem to be extrapolating a lot from what I said. I just find it funny you put a job above being a parent in terms of life goals as if the reason most people have jobs isn't because they have families to support. The amount of people in this comment section that took the "you'll find the most meaning in your life underneath a companies heel" approach is just odd to me.

On a less "internet debate"-y note, I'm glad Kanako's kept up spending time with Kiyomi. I was worried she'd end up a one-chapter character, so it's nice to see Kanako make a friendship and keep it going

When she's off-hours, Kanako only murders with words.

Nice to see her stay in touch with her friend.

Lol, the comment section. People suddenly turn into some experts. To me, marriage or not is not important. I personally don’t like marriage and having a family. Seeing my father traps himself with this word “family” makes me fear of it. Having family also means you’ll lose your freedom and be burdened with heavy responsibility. Because you will have to take responsibility for your partner life. And when you have children you will have to be responsible for them too. Being a crappy parent is not an option for me. I either become a good one or not become one at all.

The size of the dating pool does matter, if you care about putting the odds in your favor :
- larger pool = more variety to choose from
- starting young = youth advantages + more time searching
If you decide squander your youth (and its advantages), then you don't have any right to complain if you're having a hard time finding the right one.
But no, the complaints go on and on. And men are trash because they're paying more attention to younger women blah blah blah.

Yes, to you. It's important for others. Though if you're a man living in the West then just forget about it. The odds are you'll just get divorce-raped.

Ah, yes, your job, the most valuable thing you can spend your life on.
Uh...one of the, yes? It brings in the cash. Is there something wrong with that? It's just a personal preference. Some women prefer a marriage/family life (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that), but not all.

@furn_ace Ok you keep saying something about men being driven by biological instincts and looking for younger, fertile females. LOL, are you that kind of man? In that case, we don't want you anyway. Women are not looking for people who find us attractive because we're "fertile" (wtf are we, neanderthals?), we're looking for a partnership of mutual respect.

Also, you're very obsessed with this idea of "competing" with the younger generation. We'd be marrying men in our own age range, so why would we need to compete with the younger ones? Fertility and beauty are going to fade with time for women, yes, but it's the same for men. So if you're marrying within your age range, this shouldn't really matter. A guy can't complain about your age if he's just as old...lol.

Btw, we don't think men are trash. We just think men like YOU are trash. Believe it or not, not all men are driven by their baser instincts. Believe it or not, people actually look for trust, respect, and--dare I say it--LOVE in a relationship. Not just primal urge to "mate." If this is what you think like, honestly, it's pathetic.

@kirbee @Hexxy I know, right? This comment section literally makes me want to kill myself. I feel like I just traveled back in time like 40 years. Women having careers and dreams/desires outside of marrying and having children? Impossible, amirite?

No problem. I don't want your kind of women anyway. Too old for my tastes. 🙃
Women are not looking for people who find us attractive because we're "fertile" (wtf are we, neanderthals?)
So valuing beauty and fertility is considered backwards nowadays. Feminism is one hell of a drug.
We'd be marrying men in our own age range, so why would we need to compete with the younger ones?
How naive. Men of your age range will rather go for the 18-24 year olds instead. I thought I already covered this.
Fertility and beauty are going to fade with time for women, yes, but it's the same for men.
It's not the same. Men can still produce sperm (albeit at a much lower rate) even up to their 70s.
Women can no longer produce any eggs after menopause. Late pregnancies also comes with health and mental issues for the child.
I feel like I just traveled back in time like 40 years. Women having careers and dreams/desires outside of marrying and having children? Impossible, amirite?
Did you even read what I just said? I never said it was impossible. You just have to switch the modus operandi : marry first, career later.
Is that so difficult?

Strawman argument. I never said women must breed.
I said that men will always look for younger women, because that's how they're biologically programmed.
The best way to get married is to exploit that programming, not squander it. It's just that simple.

I believe the majority of people work not because they want to, but because they have to for this very reason. Unless you're going to imply that all the plumbers, construction workers and trash collectors in the world didn't dream of their current career path.
