And for those who think the likes of Armin and Mikasa doing this as a display of some cheesy "power of friendship", you can't be any more off the mark. Unlike Eren who is acting on necessity, these guys are acting on pure force of will. If anything, they are demonstrating what it means to have actual freedom, something Eren (for all his rhetoric of wanting to be free) seems to have long given up on. Armin and company are literally living up to Erwin Smith's legacy.

What a shitshow. This is now Code Geass and Eren is Lelouch.

I would like to see Armin try and talk-no-jutsu his way past the multiple eldian-hater countries of the world literally nuking Paradis after all of this. At least Eren did him a favor and destroyed most of their military forces, maybe that would buy Armin a few years to think about his peace-loving gay ass speech.

World: Let's genocide all Eldians!

Imagine the insane amount of cope we can witness at the end when it most likely ends with POWER OF FRIENDSHIP

how is the fact that they're willing to kill their friend Eren in order to stop genocide a demonstration of the "power of friendship"?

How is Eren not acting freely? He made a choice, which is to protect his people (of Paradise Island). Do you mean that he compromised on what he wanted to do? Sure, but he still made a choice of his own will, so it's not really against his belief.

This smells like bait. People are fighting on his BACK and he have no reaction at all? Armin goes into the world where he and Ymir controls and does whatever the fuck he wants in there and he does nothing to stop it? Jean explodes his neck and his facial expression doesn't even change for a second. Where is Ymir btw?

I'm calling it now. This "Eren" Titan is just a decoy created by Ymir to buy them time. The real Eren is somewhere else doing god-knows-what.

@DragonTales: Eren wasn’t controlling the titans, though. At least, that’s what Armin thought. He was just moving the main body forward, it was Ymir who was commanding the past titans to attack. It’s assumed that Eren didn’t intend to fight back at all, and that he was just focused on moving forward. As for why Ymir allowed the dead people to resist her control, it’s for the same reason why Eren didn’t just control everyone to not fight back, don’t you think?

this chapter is bs, typical shonen manga.
It would make sense if only Eren Father as the predecessor of Attack Titan that only help Armin and Zeke because he resists Eren's will before.

@Naian

The operational definition of "freedom" is NOT the availability of choices. Freedom is mastery over necessity. Eren is propelled by necessity, not choice. That is why he even apologizes to the kids he will stomp on long before he actually did. The Attack Titan's power is a paradox. For something that has apparently always sought freedom, its ultimate power involves following a "fate" that has been predetermined for it. By any definition of the word, that is literally the opposite of actual freedom of agency.

Armin and the others are literally ignoring necessity. They are propelled by will, by choice. Just like Erwin leading his men to die, they chose to move forward. That what they are doing is probably "meaningless" or "unnecessary" is irrelevant. Since the start of the Marley arc, Eren has done nothing but deny freedom using power. First by necessitating the Survey Corps' cooperation in a terror attack, then by necessitating an offensive stance given that the world is now even more afraid of them than they've ever been. For all his rhetoric of wanting freedom, all he's done is follow what the Attack Titan has shown him step by step.

A little disappointing considering how epic the set up was but its not quite over yet so lets hold off on assuming.

I didn't come to this manga to get more nakama bs. I wanted this to be different. Disappointing after all that build-up if this pacing continues
