Reminder that Reiji Miyajima doesn't write garbage because he's incapable of writing anything good—he writes garbage because that shit sells and has made him a multimillionaire. Even during the filmmaking arc of RAG he proved that he's more than capable of high quality character writing and emotional storytelling.

Filmmaking arc remains the best one in my opinion. It's funny that you say that because the only thing keeping me reading both of these series is what's been called the "trashy" drama. I will give Reiji his flowers that he's a decent writer when it comes to that, it's the romance where both of these series fall flat for me personally.

I know Japan has some weird laws regarding marriage and paternity, but if it were in my country (Brazil), it would be completely different. Regardless of the reasons, if the mother goes to court with a paternity recognition lawsuit and it’s confirmed that the guy is the father, she’s guaranteed to get child support, and the father has to pay or he goes to jail.

Yes the biological mother is close to 40 or is 40. We don’t know her birthday but the age would coincide with the age of the twins.

As for the bio father. Seems like he was an ass from the start. No care from the beginning but cuz now he knows they are in a rich family he’s gonna try something. Just scheming because he probably lost his job and is a loser living shady since then.

As for the bio mother. It’s nice that the Shiunji family is understanding. It’s great that the mothers knew each other and are old acquaintances. It’s not impossible for that to happen. I mean they have 7 kids who knows how many of the parents of these kids already are acquaintances with the adopted parents. I could see more of them being acquaintances than none.

As for the mother she realistically knew she could not take on two babies as a single mother. Even just having one child is hard. I know personally cuz that’s one main reason my mom left Japan. Being a single mom during the old days with no college degree you had no chance of a normal life. Especially if we go based of real timeline back in 80-90’s it was difficult.

So I personally understand why she did that. It was to help her kids and herself live their life without too much struggle.
She’s a good mother. And another thing I found this out myself years after my dad past away but his parents were bad. Gave up all their children. Don’t even know how many maybe like 7 kids. He was taken in by his older sister and was able to live ok.
Lot happened back in those days and I was just a kid. I don’t know about now but I personally understand to some extent. And I don’t know any of my dad’s siblings or have contact with anyone in Japan sadly.
