Bro was emotionally stunted from the start but the deal with his folks prolly put him on edge even further. Doesn't want to be betrayed anymore but doesn't want to be pitied either. Doesn't understand everyone elses emotions to some extent cuz he's not able to express certain emotions himself maybe.

But he's also a bit of dumbass to have pushed away his childhood friend like that.

Then be all like "I'm so all alone, no one is on my side." Chuuni 101 really.

Dude the guy is grieving hard in addition to the personal beef he got with his dad, I don't think he's really in the right mindset at the time to process shit through.

Obviously. The girl crying in that boy's stead is actually just retarded. You're going to make him feel bad. Nobody in this world can understand how someone is feeling when they're down, saying shit like "I get you man. I feel your pain. I understand how you feel" is just stupid. No you don't. Human emotions don't work like that. It is so easy to see that you're just lying through your teeth when you're saying all those stuff.

When someone is at their lowest point, as a friend you are supposed to give them assurance that if they ever want to or decide to start moving on with life, you'll be there to lend a hand. That's it. Your duty as a friend ends there.

I mean sure it can feel kinda like pity, but many people can understand roughly what someone is going through when it comes to loss. Sure, it's never 1:1 as the situation has all sorts of different baggage and moments that it's built upon, but many people actually have empathy. Like I may have never been in a real relationship, but I can absolutely know how bad it would feel to be cheated on even with my limited exposure.

Her crying is her coping, she views him as someone extremely close to her, from her perspective she knows he is suffering but she has no clue what she can do to help him and that has to be frustrating and toss on top some sadness from the situation that just leads her to cry. That also does not even take into account that women are often the ones more in touch with their emotions and let it out vs men who will bottle it up.
