And is this the right TL for the left panel? The situation is talking about how he became so reserved due to not wanting to "steal other peoples' time", so it feels strange to say that his carefulness was stealing peoples' time/lifespan. It seems like it would follow more to say "I was always careful around others, to avoid stealing their time (by limiting interaction with them)". Then that's contrasted with him talking afterwards about how he realizes that having meaningful relationships doesn't feel like he's wasting peoples' time, as part of his growth.

I feel like it makes sense this way too.

Putting up walls means people needs a longer time to "figure" you out, which could be interpreted as "wasting their lifespan", compared to if youre a straightforward person

It's not love my man, and if it turns out to be by like the next chapter without any montage or time skip I feel that's far too quick and ham fisted. Any professional worth their salt always has a clear delineated line between their work and their personal lives, it is rare for them to get involved with a client personally, unless the customer is rich as hell. And my god he can't be so lonely that the first hooker/hostess he buys is immediate consideration for life partner, that's the epitome of being a worthless sack with no self-esteem.
