Yeah somthing does feel very off. She did get gifts for him (also unclear why they both did on same day, was that a holiday or somthing) Which is very odd for a hostess to do, they get gifts a lot, but giving anything that isn't just a a generic knickknack is very unusual. Which may be the author trying to make her seem serous about him as in Japan it would be a clear sign, but even still somthing just feels very off. Like why did the matron come over for, we also only get a portion of the conversations, and we don't know the protocol in that society. Though on the other hand the two friends thought this was a good place for him to meet a girl, so maybe its normal there? But the set up so far just screams looming disaster. Her tattoos also bug me, we haven't seen others girls with tattoos really, They could be a style choice, but I bet they have meaning, all the girls in the bar have them, and as far as I can see one of the tattoos all of them have is a collar, the other bits are different but generally on shoulder and wrists. They are in hard to hide and easy to check locations, perhaps slave marking or somthing. I don't like that its the only women with tattoos so far. Just so many redflags, while at the same time the other guys seem to think everything is fine, so very unsure, as they would know if somthing is fundamentally wrong, right?
You say that like any of the girls can say no to the nobles, we literally saw adventures forced to march to their deaths without putting up a fight. If adventures, experienced fighters cant even fight back you think any village girl can? As for rich folk, unclear if they can say no, guards will back nobles (the one paying them) but one of the few good things about nobles is that there is less powerful individuals around to abuse their authority, that power is more focused on fewer individuals, making those individuals more of a threat, but less likely to be encountered. So yeah no stopping it if a noble does somthing, but I doubt a noble would go to that shop as it seems to low class and inexpensive, and even if they did they would have a favorite that no one else meets, so doubt that is happening here. That leaves rich folk, but this town doesn't seem to have any, and even if it did they would need the nobles backing to keep the guards from stopping them as the guards aren't paid by the rich they are paid by the nobles who the rich cant really touch so they have little to no fear of the rich unless a noble backs them, which I can't really see the nobles here giving such backing.
