Well below average "SoL" isekai.

MC isn't really likeable at all. Constantly whines about not liking people like some anti-social teenager. Dislikes any social interaction to the point he flat out refuses to learn the language of the area (which is fucking stupid), but is always dealing with others and his lack of understanding is honestly annoying as a reader. Makes it pretty hard to give a shit about the side characters when their dialog is broken sentences and just straight up fantasy gibberish.

The SoL aspect isn't interesting in the slightest either. Boring crafting with lazy/vague systems attached, absolutely zero world-building, no real plot just MC whining about people ad nauseam with some really contrived and basic adventurers guild bs thrown in haphazardly.

I understand what they were going for was along the lines of "depressed modern dude is healed by getting isekai'd" but it's really poorly done and honestly just frustrating to read. 4/10

I can't say that I agree with SonicWizard's assessment.

Like any book, this manga isn't perfect, but unlike most manga I've read (especially isekai) the characters are dynamic and human. I'm most impressed at how vulnerable the writer made the main character, and how I even sympathized with the "arrogant nobleman" character

TLDR;
If you are checking the comments to see if the manga is for you, I 100% recommend you read it.

I can't preach enough about how good this manga is.

Totally my opinion though, take my advice with a grain of salt.

Good shit

man gets Isekai'd, makes slow life in the countryside.

breaking from the usual formula however, is that it actually explores the issues of such a life. MC has no cheat powers to trivialize any issues that arise. not even the language barrier.
he has to worry about monsters, getting food, and crippling loneliness as no hot waifu shows up to unconditionally love and respect him.

the MC is a fairly realistic man. no Kirito here, he has issues, he has vulnerabilities.
his self sufficient lifestyle comes with downsides that he has to live with.

it's a story about building relationships with your neighbors more than anything.

definitely worth reading more than most slow life Isekais.

I can sorta see both sides on this. I like an isekai which shows the MC’s vulnerability and his eventually opening up to others, but I can see how it can feel whiny.

I'm just enjoying the ride, it's rather nice. And yeah, i hated the MC at the start but... I can relate, I really dislike dealing with people. But, if I were in a similar situation, I'd likely act the same way, eventually warming back up to people when I realized that "hey, there's actually people I can trust again."

It's not perfect, but for the last eight or so chapters it's been a nice slow creep of development for the MC that feels relatable, to me at least.

Starts out with author trying to find his way, but after a few chapters really hits is stride in an exploration of pulling out of depression, fear and loneliness through really hard work of socialization.

Ch 11.5 really established my appreciation for the manga's approach. I suggest reading to there, if it still seems off to you let it go then.

I can see how people can see him as whiny, i can understand, the Mc addresses it himself, kinda. 10/10 read, after reading so much okay-sub par manga I've finally hit the jackpot, don't listen to sonicwizard. also those are the best bros I've ever seen.

Better than some of the trash we get, a slice of life isekai basically but the MC isn't OP or a complete beta, its also one of the few isekai manga's where the MC doesn't automatically learn the native language or everyone conveniently/mysteriously seems to speak japanese instead he gradually learns more and more getting better at communicating with the natives.

On the flip side, he does spend a rather large amount of time whining about his short comings and the art style is pretty bad (comparatively speaking) and the 'my name is...' chapters are kind of annoying but you can't really skip them or side character developments don't make sense in the main chapters, mostly but it feels like the author couldn't figure out how to naturally bake these changes into the main story so told them in extra chapters.

Overall probably worth a read, so far its not 'bad' even if its not 'great'.

This series is all about the MC coming to terms with wanting to be a loner, but also wanting to be with people. He is the literal embodiment of all of us, thrown into a new world, and having to make do with what we have on our backs, and adapting to the situation. He's all of us Introverts, having to come out of his shell, making friends in an ancient world, with minor magic, and magical creatures, based out of a northern European nation, probably around the 14th century, and learning the language slowly.

He is all of us who are both lonely and want to be alone, but also want to have companionship. I suggest this series if you want to see how we would naturally be in such a situation.
I give it a 10/10.

Oh fuck off it removes tattoos as well? I liked those too. I absolutely thought they were going with the 'they are beautiful' approach but no, here is a magic tattoo remover! Disappointed.

I like the realism of this story. Most isekai would have the mc adapt to the world quickly but this one takes time. For example he doesn't learn how to speak the language for a while and he's reasonably strong but not to strong, when he struggles it's more believable than most isekai mc. The pacing isn't to fast or to slow and the other characters are interesting. So far my only issue is it's slowly turning into a love story

You either like it or hate it. If you like "wish fulfillment isekai" you will hate it. If you like "deep plot" you will probably like it.

Basically it's isekai but NOT targeted for average isekai fan.
