I think the webtoon adaptation decided not to include the "shenanigans" of the japanese hunter association in the LN mainly because it might create a friction to their japanese readers. I am okay with this though, shows that they are giving respect to their fellow asians. Believe it or not, there are small tension already between the Japanese and the Koreans, so including that LN part would not be wise, and it doesn't really affect the outcome of this arc all that much.

Mmmh. In the end it doesn't really matter but it was still nice drama. In the novel the Japanese hunter association made a proposal to their president of a brilliant plan to get rid of all the S rankers in Korea with this raid and claim korea for themselves. Basically after letting the korean hunters in they were going to retreat and let them die. Allowing themselves to claim korea for their own, and they were confident on resolving the jeju island problem on their own. It was actually very interesting with how sinister they made out the Japanese to be, afterall this plan was approved by the higher ups there and everything. I remember reading comments such as the other probably despises japan, etc. I suggest yall to read the LN if you want to know more about the original plot...like the author really did japan dirty. Like i wont tell you want but he basically protested them as savages then let them get crushed by tragedy only to beg the mc for help.
