I internalized reading this chapter too much that I got a bit of goosebumps when Marin went into character mode.
I don't think anyone in that event and saw her will recover from it.
Nice bit of info about cosplay SOPs on photography. This chapter also really made a point that the wonder of cosplaying is not only about making intricate costumes, but also how the cosplayer enjoys their costume enough that they can truly become the character they are wearing.

I swear I could reread the entirety of NiseKoi an it would be less of a slog then everything that led up to this moment.

I enjoy the effort this manga has taken to build up the Haniel cosplay.

This and other manga that deal with manga and anime culture often struggle to convey the weight a chunkier IP carries in real life. My Dress-Up Darling has several examples like Flower Princess Blaze which make me think of B or C tier anime, paint-by-numbers genre stories that earn sales by following popular trends and maybe good character design or art. I subjectively think Shield Hero and Code Geass are popular real life examples, and while many people have done great cosplays from those shows that I‘m sure I have enjoyed, Black Lobelia isn’t keeping me up at night.

I don’t blame authors for failing to write One Piece as a backstory to their seventy chapter manga about a high-school club. Instead I think it’s impressive My Dress-Up Darling has painted some gravitas onto a manga that does not exist. Between the build up, Haniel’s character design, and the fantastic art, often drawn at odds to the rest of the manga, Mandate of Heaven feels like something people would have on their top ten list.

That extra weight really heightened the end of this chapter for me. I’ve taken cosplay pictures before and page 27 plucked at my heart strings. Seeing and photographing characters that mean something to you is so different from just seeing an objectively good cosplay. I get that some people think the manga is too slow but I appreciate that My Dress-Up Darling is an actual love letter to cosplay rather than just using cosplay as a backdrop for a teenage romance.

I'm predicting that the author of that manga sees the cosplay and truly sees his work IRL as he had always seen it in his head, thus either allowing for a movie/series adaption, or hunting down our MC's to star in those roles, or something similar.
Otherwise, I don't see why the author's opinion on cosplays and adaptions of his work ever mattered or was mentioned.

But it's great to see them finally in the spotlight and the previous chapters' (months?) work finally paying off
