I wonder if this actual time travel in which you can change the past.

Or if this is more of the "astral projection" type of time travel in which you are merely a witness to past events and cannot change the events that have happened?

My money is on a scenario where she actually went to the past, but it's already happened in her timeline. In other words, when Frieren first analyzed the monument 84 years ago with Himmel and Co., she suddenly stood up and started touching Himmel's face and asking how old he was, much to the party's confusion. It also explains why her memories of after the monument are a blur, as she was probably in the past for about a week.

Really looking forward to this, seeing her interact with Himmel after so long is going to be a treat. Can't wait to be crying ugly tears at the end too.
