The introduction would be about 8 years off from this chapter. She's 26 in the opening because her narrations cite it began 14 years ago and the first moment of the flashback puts her at 12. She's 18 as of this chapter, and her present-time engagement dates her at 26.

To know that you'll have to read volumes seven and eight (ninth and tenth focus on other characters, though one of them has epilogue for Ann's story, which takes place when she's around the age of 27-28).
