I'm impressed how people don't read the first text box on the second page of chapter 1, literally saying there's 1 male born out of every 9 females born, yet people still complaining about why men aren't used more often in this society? Or how dumb some things are in this world

Brother, stop being horny and read the text, then think. It's dumb in every form, way, and logic to use the gender that is born less as a normal soldier, quite literally the opposite of cost-effectiveness in terms of making babies just for them to be drafted. Also this world is inspired by a medieval-like era, do people even know what type of era that is? Definitely not as glorified as people make it out to be in fantasy stories that's for sure. Hell, royalty would make grandstanding and beautiful buildings and host balls for nobles to appeal to them so they wouldn't build their own personal army to revolt instead of spending money to take care of peasants because it was just more practical. In fact, someone once made people build a bridge (over basically a puddle and forgot the name) during a famine for his wife, it was a very dumb and expensive gift that's for sure. So turning men into femboy trophies isn't that surprising and would probably happen IRL in that kind of world situation. After all, turning a gender into a trophy has happened before, aka before women rights, and making a certain group into basically slaves did happen, aka Africans being captured and becoming slaves. So now try imaging a gender becoming a trophy-slave-spouse, now divide their near 50/50 birth rate by 9. Hell, I'll give even more random facts because people think the femboy situation isn't realistic: there's a culture where people only marry fat women because being fat is beauty and women with small feet are also a beauty standard, even if they would force women to wear very small shoes to the point their feet would get squished and change their feet size

Yeah I dunno, bub. It's almost as if in a world where a group is scarce and people with authority can do just about whatever they want and corrupted/twisted/malicious desires exist, that scarce thing will be treated as a trophy slave because they're not common compared to the previously mentioned group. Hmm it's not like history has taught me anything especially that bad humans can possibly exist and make other humans literally less than human.

Yeah I just wanna rant about people having stupid takes about this erotica manga world setting and society. It's an erotica manga, worse world settings happened before like 1 man left on an island/planet, and even then a society like this is pretty realistic if you know your history. And I also like making fun of people for having stupid internet takes, I would never wish for dumb people to not exist because the world would get boring

so assuming the 1:10 ratio (or was it 1:9, either way) men would be highly valuable (obviously) particularly as villages would require them to continue having children, the loss of one man could easily kill a village if not villages as no new generations could be made without serious inbreeding issues (which build up generation after generation). men aren't expected to go out and work, fight, etc since the loss of one is so detrimental to a community which is why they do more traditionally feminine activities. and a result women take up leadership, fighting, etc roles. with women taking leadership roles related real world concepts like harems are obviously going to arise. its not a 1 to 1 moral flip as in the real world women would obviously still be expected to work while in this one men likely don't work at all.

it logically makes sense but there is still one glaring issue: you would definitely expect the vast majority of women to be substantially more muscular for the setting. thats pretty much entirely an art choice though.

my biggest complaint about manga like this is the author never puts any thought into the implications of a woman centric world.

why would men be expected to fiddle with flowers?
Being useless is a sign of status. Noble men are expected to be useless twinks as a sign that their wives are so rich and powerful that they never need to move a finger.
The MC on the contrary is the Joan of Arc of his world, a virtous women who put asside the norms of her society and steped up in a time of need

Why do you think crippled feet were a sign a status in china and ridiculously unwieldy dresses were the same in europe?
The author thought about it, it's just that you can't put 2 and 2 toguether.

I'm STILL trying to wrap my head around this setting, if all this goes the opposite mindset to out world, shouldn't the women be all over him and not ostracize if he pops boners?? Even if he says that all the women there want the "cute" variety, then why are the princesses thirsty for him... If this goes reverse of our world where people say games and anime were "sexualizing women" but at the same time praise WAP or OnlyFans was "empowering women" shouldn't this guy be at the top of the world?

Did I miss something or is this just the usual JP protag trope where they insist on being a eunuch despite everyone saying he doesn't have to??

you'd have a point if he was being watched by women at the time and men were plentiful enough for trophy husbands to be a believable concept. but neither are the case, why would men be expected to fiddle with flowers when there is no women nearby to be demure towards to stroke their egos?
having crippled feet isnt somthing you can do only when nobility are around so they are always like that to appeal to the domination-based egos of nobility. and unwieldy dresses were to show-off mainly to other women and flamboyant men. regular men, yes even nobles, were simply satisfied with women wearing modest outfits so that it wouldnt feel like their women are trying to appeal to other men or their family member is being shameful.

This is actually really good. Just think about the many exaggerated sexist noblemen trope in LNs and WNs, and just switch the gender around. It's entertaining. Some of the logic doesn't completely make sense, but that's part of the charm. I can see that kinda unbalanced tropes could emerge from a society that IS unbalanced as fuck.

I don't think it's anything deep. 1 and 2 don't always have to fit perfectly. Sometimes it's enough for them to just be 1-2. If you get what I mean.

Y'all caught up on the vagaries of the aesthetic sense of one nation. Their world is not a monolith, which is great.
@readingsit @dankenglish If you do read the book please do let me know what you think. I'd like to hear other peoples' opinions of it.
Didn't really hook me till the Willendorf negotiations, I debated dropping it upon learning the identity of the Big Bad.
I didn't sign up for swords and sorcery expecting to get revisionist RL history.
However, I am very very glad I stuck in for the emotional payoff around ch 100.
