Have you ever read the book A Brother's Price? The author actually spent some time thinking about the implications of a heavily skewed sex ratio, and it's a much more interesting piece because of it.

  1. Similar to this, about a 10:1 ratio.
  2. The book revolves around aristocracy and landowners, who need heirs to pass down their land to.
  3. Setting is kinda wild-west (early guns, cannons, and swords).
  4. Men are extremely valuable for their rarity, but this value also makes them risky - bandits raiding homesteads to steal husbands, then selling them to stud for women desperate for children.
  5. Women are forced to marry in groups of "sisters," because otherwise there wouldn't be enough babies born.
  6. Sisters are often forced to trade their brothers for money (hence the title of the book) to buy a suitable husband from other families - men have little say in this because...
  7. Men therefore have basically no rights. They need to make babies to keep society functioning, and if they refuse the deal their sisters find, that could lead to their families losing everything. In fact, people are surprised that the main character knows how to read because most men are never taught; it's not seen as necessary since most of their value comes from "between their legs" so to speak.
It's a great book, and I don't want to spoil more than the backstory for you if you do decide to read it. The book is worth it for the worldbuilding alone; it actually feels like the author is trying to communicate the situation and values of a different world - a small example is that the main character at one point laments that he rarely gets a chance to simply talk with men outside his own family; a man is cloistered and kept out of others' eyes like women in an old Muslim household, lest some lusty woman force themselves on him (again, because it is women who are the more expendable sex in that world, they are often expected to be more martially inclined and aggressive than the men, which only further solidifies their primacy in the social hierarchy). It is a romance novel, so expect some of the tropes of that genre, but it's honestly very readable.
Great book, A Brother's Price is the first 'reverse world' book that I've read from beginning to end, i would also recommend The Honor of Duty, it is not as good as A Brother's Price and has an ending open for the sequel that isn't released yet, but a solid 'reverse world' book nevertheless.

This made me want to stop reading. Mom "finally" choosing to care about the second princess. I'm extremely sus of that. Astarte little rant just screamed "bruh we get it. No one likes her". And the update schedule near killed this story. 5 months to be confused by the new chapter bc it was not update forso long most people forgot.

I hate when people localize things like this and call it "switched gender" or "reverse gender". Where/when in our world are/were women treat like the men here are? Or men openly behave as the women here? This is something else entirely, not just gender roles switched.

I’m not following the story well… I think I’m too distracted by the art… I’m gonna have to reread this

so are men in this world genetically weaker than men from earth? thats the only explanation since the women are the same as women from earth physically. otherwise the men even if fewer in numbers shouldnt be so weak lmao

This is definitely a story to come back to in like 3 years and reread when there are more chapters released. It had such crazy momentum for a while; 70k bookmarks and only 10 chapters is insane. But the releases have been absurdly slow with small chapter sizes.

The art is great, it’s sketchy but solidly clear in style and intent. Story also has a great foundation. I’ll probably pick this back up in a few years and reread

Battles are meh.
Story is meh.
But i kinda like the crazy humor of the princess troops and polidoro.

The level of gore is a bit extreme. Specially given that somehow ALL women are beautys ... either the author has a gore fetish he's scratching or this is just weird xD.

Could do with less gore. More sexual harrasment and jokes.
Alot more focus on the poor man and his urges xD.

my biggest complaint about manga like this is the author never puts any thought into the implications of a woman centric world.

why would men be expected to fiddle with flowers? if women are attracted to girlishness in this world there is no reason to be go after men when there is so much women around. it would make far more sense that every man born would be forced to rise to the occasion and prove themselves worthy of being favored by so much women. which would result in some truely brutal male tyrants (like a world full of human ganondorfs) and so would be absolutely ripped

why are women still beautiful and graceful? in a world with so few men, so many women, and men are expected to be girly wouldnt women start to take on the masculine role? breasts and ass are evolved to appeal to men, if appeal isnt needed then those assets would fade and all women would become dumpy in appearance to better hold useful muscle instead of attractive curves.

why are women keeping harems of men? women harems were common in history because a woman can only get pregnant from one man at a time while men can impregnate multiple women in a day. in a world were there are 10 women for every man then sharing men would be the only way to maintain population and trying to horde a man, let alone multiple men, could lead to unrest.

none of it makes sense, the only reason i havent dropped it is i like the main character so far
You're assuming that the women don't share the men. It's explicitly stated that the men are shared - even noble husbands among other noblewomen.
Chastity is a matter of the noble wife getting the first few licks.

Village men seem to be communally shared and this sends STD rates through the roof. The MC in the LN has stressed that he wants tons of sex with a harem, but doesn't want his nose falling off from syphilis before he even hits 30. Hygiene is poorly displayed by the artist because the LN just keeps commenting on how filthy they are.

Testosterone and protein:
This is not set in modern times where synthetic ammonia has more or less stabilized our food sources and you won't find protein powder milkshakes in their taverns. Like with medieval peasants, people worked hard for every meal and don't have the luxury of being out of shape.

The queen seems to be exceptionally well endowed compared to most other women, and she's clearly flaunting in to the other girls given how she dresses. - exactly like medieval kings and their beautiful dresses / cod pieces. Similar to girls from any era, women dress to impress other women and not to impress men.

They could do that well enough without wearing anything, and the manga has commented that they do indeed try that around men - but the men don't seem to care.

Testosterone seems utterly lacking in the male population, and without extra sources of protein, it would be difficult for women to build muscle either. The barbarians do seem to have more muscle, and they probably hunt a lot more meat rather than farming.

What's illogical is how the MC is wearing a small Chasity belt into battle - where he doesn't need to hide an erection - and he could just wear a leather bag or heavy belt o pull it to the side in public settings.

your misunderstanding what im saying. im not arguing as to why they show it off (though it is stupid they get angry at men being horny) im arguing as to why woman are still beautiful in a women centric world. the reason women are beautiful IRL is because male monkey brains uses the female ass as a means to determine attractive mates and ancient humans who started standing evolved 'asses from the front' or 'breasts' so the males are bombarded with information on how attractive they are from any angle. if men dont get to choose their mates in this world such evolutions are pointless. women would be dumpy to allow for more muscle mass.

i never said they would all be 'musclely'. women would be more barrel shaped like irl men to allow for the possibility for more mucle-mass. if the women dont train then they are barrel-shaped but lacking in mucles

if an IRL king declared all women in his kingdom to be his and breeding with anyone else is illegal then he would be hanged by his people withen the day. in a world where there are 10 women for every 1 man a monogamous marriage leaves 9 women without children so in order to maintain the local population, nevermind increase it, that couple would need to birth 11 children MINIMUM. a harem of say 3 men for 1 women would mean 29 women go without children so to maintain population that 1 women would need to produce 33 children. those numbers are out-and-out absurd, unless this manga has cloning vats the human population will go extinct in 3-5 generations because of idiotic male harems.
Just because their religious medieval setting has them coddling weak men who have no control over what women look like, doesn't mean that their primate male ancestors didn't have an announce of control over which females they had. The first princess's advisor commented on how annoying, undesirable, and useless big breasts are. She sees them as a curse from her ancient ancestors.
